Before I put in Flexirods, a word of advice please

I am about to wash my hair and I wanted to put flexirods in. I wonder 3 things:
1) How many is a good number to use with midback, 4a hair? ( I have a pack of 10)
2) How do you maintain the style once you do it?
3) Do I need to put in setting lotion or will my leave in suffice?
I did a search and most didn't put how they maintain it.

TIA

I'm actually wearing flexis now that I did last Friday.

1) My hair is about 2-3 inches above brastrap. and I use about 20-25 flexis.
2) To maintain at night, I clip my hair to the top of my head using duck clips (about four). That way, I'm not sleeping on the curls, and I just shake and go in the morning. Or, you could put them up into a loose ponytail.
3) I just use my regular leave-in and apply water with a spritz bottle so my hair doesn't dry while rolling.

HTH!!!

Could someone shed a little light for me? Are flexi rods the same thing as the wrap-snap & go rollers that you can buy at sallys bss?

Not sure if they are the same as wrap and snap..

I think it's the same concept, but I have never seen the wrap an snap in person to compare.

Since you live in Florida, you might want to apply a setting lotion or creamy set to combat the humidity. Believe me, I know because I live in humid ass Florida!

I love wearing flexi rod sets. I have thick, 4a/b hair that is about 24 inches long. I use the purple flexi rods from Sally's I used almost 4 packs. To set my hair I used Paul Mitchell's Foaming Pomade ( I  this stuff). I also keep a spray bottle handy to keep my hair wet while I roll. Make sure your hair is totally dry before taking the rods out to prevent frizz. There is a pic in my fotki album of my flex set. Good luck to ya!

Ok guys,
Make pretend I'm an absolute idiot. And explain to me how to use these things. I've tried several times, but I must be doing something wrong.
1. How do you keep the ends smooth and tucked under.
2. How do keep them up, no matter how I twist or fold they end up loose and flopping of the side. Nothing like the picture, the set looks so secure in the picture.

Thanks

1: The first time I did a rod set I used about 3 packs (30) of the purple ones from sally's my hair was a couple inches past my shoulders. As time went on I found I wanted larger curls but fewer of them so I only used about 10-20 usually about 15 of the purple ones.

2: I sleep with my hair in two pigtails when I sleep that way if I sleep on my back or side I won't smush the curls. In the morning I take the ponytails down, add my moisturizer and fluff. My sets last about a week.

3: I have to use a setting lotion for my sets. I spray my setting lotion and then some wonder 8 oil on each strand and roll and secure each rod.

@Dominicana: I have pics in my Jan album of how I set the rods that you can check out. You have to bend the ends in the opposite direction in which you rolled the rod. So lets say you rolled under you then have to bend the ends upward in order to secure. HTH

cosigning on beautiful hair and following in the off topic bandwagon. :D
If that is how your rollersets come out, dominicana, then I can't wait to see your flexirod set. :Flahsssss

Question for all, if my hair is midback, are the blue rods okay or should I attempt with bigger/smaller ones.
I want a something that will last throughout midterms.

I would go for bigger ones for hair that is midback. But then again if you wanted smaller curls you could get away with using the blue rods.

Thanks for clearing that up for me IKG4healthyhair. I have some of those and my mom and I have been calling them "hot dog rollers". She has used them for a while. Again thanks!

Dominica, how did you achieve that roller set? Did you roll each roller on from the ends to the scalp? Or did you just roll the bottom of your hair? Hope that makes sense :look:

Thanks Girls!!!!

My hair has been giving me fits lately. The rollerset picture is one of my favorites, reminds me of my mom. It doesn't come out like that anymore since I've been transitioning.
It's a regular rollerset. Rolled all of my hair from ends to roots. I used smaller magnetic rollers than usual and didn't comb it out before taking the picture. Once I brushed, the curls were all gone.

I think I've found someone around here that does redken anti-curl so hopefully, this forced transitioning will be over!!
