I flatironed my hair the other night with the Solia and GVP flatirons. The left side I used the GVP and the right side the Solia. Both on 410 degrees. I used Beyond the Zone heat protectant.
Hair after wash and a quick ponytail rollerset
After one pass thru on each side
After one more pass thru on each side so 2 total on each side.
This is after I flat ironed the bottom half of my hair using 2 pass thrus per small sections. I think the Solia side looks and feels a tad bit straighter. DH said the same thing.
I finished the rest of my head with the Solia.
Conclusion: The Solia did a little bit better but not good enough to spend the extra money if you don't want to. It does go up to 450 as well and the GVP only goes to 410 but I think 410 is hot enough at least for my hair. Maybe 20 more degrees would be ok.
