I've never done baggying, but from what I've heard it's for moisture. The heat generated from your head would help whatever you apply soak into your hair strands more deeply.
For me, I do whole-head baggy. I do baggying for moisturizing purposes, otherwise my hair is so dry like the Desert Sahara!! But I baggy like every 2 days or so. I'll do my normal night routine of moisturizing and baggy, then in the morning take the cap off, and my hair is very slightly damp but dries completely so very soft and moisturized.
I ALWAYS do a whole head baggy. It's how I get most of my growth. You can baggy 2-3 nights a week but sometimes I do it every night lol. Sometimes I sleep with the conditioner under a plastic cap and rinse it out in the morning... Or when I don't wash my hair beforehand, I just use dudley's pca (GREAT moisture retainer) leave in conditioner. You can baggy with anything you want. It works because it locks the moisture in the hair. Plus, It's best at niight because that's when your body repairs itself.
