Ayurvedic Hair Growth Updates?

What are your latest results in terms of thickness, length and texture changes, from using any type of ayurvedic oils and powders? Are you planning to continue?

I'm still using the Shikakai/Amla tea to clean my hair - I love it! That and baking soda and tea tree oil are all I need for a clean, healthy scalp and hair - it's wonderful.

I'm using Amla oil on and off on my hairline, and lately, I've lightly oiled my hair with Brahmi oil - I'm really happy with all of it. I haven't even used the Vatika oil yet - there's really no place in my regimen for it, and so it'll wait in my cabinet until there's an opening. *lol*

And of course, I'm still loving my henna!

Ah! And as far as the results on my hair - I can't really pin it to one thing, because I've tweaked and tailored my whole regimen to make my hair as happy as possible - and Ayurvedics are one of the things that make my hair happy. So, my hair is definitely stronger, definitely longer, and don't get me to lying about the color - I think it's darker and lighter all at once.

I love these oils and powders and will continue to use them. I made DenverGirls recipe for a conditioner with the powders and coconut oil and it works very well. I put shikakai oil all over my hair first for about 1 hour, then I rinse it out for about 5 minutes and then add my conditioner/powder/coconut oil concoction to my hair with plastic cap and leave it on for 1 hour. I added amla powder to my conditioner as my base and then added other powders while DenverGirl's recipe used shikakai powder. I wanted more of a moisturising conditioner so I used the powders that Candy_C recommended and my hair is sooo very moisturised. I have only been using this conditioner for about 2 weeks and it seems like my hair is getting thicker. I'm due for my touchup on June 5 and I'm not going to get a trim this time, so I will let everyone know how much my hair has grown. I love these powders and mixed with the coconut oil it really is doing good by my hair. Also this conditioner smells sooooo good! Thanks again DenverGirl, I love it!

I read DenverGirl's post about the powders added to conditioner and was quite intrigued. I plan to do that with each individual powder...one for Amla...one for Maka...one for Brahmi...etc so I can have a full range of individual effects.

Question: When you add the powder, oil and mix..doesn't that result in too much product to funnel back into a full bottle of conditioner?

Glad you had such great success...:yep:

Yes, I actually got 1 full 32ounce bottle and 1/2 of the other 32ounce container. I have enough to last me for awhile. I love this conditioner because I shed very little. I usually add my SAA to the mixture before applying it to my hair and I forgot yesterday and I still had little hair shed. I love these powders/oils.

I've been daily tea rinsing...
I'm not sure about growth...
I update in July... so we shall see...
I have a whole lot of shrinkage too...
I want to surprise myself so... I made
a promise not to stretch/straighten until July

I'm still using the Ayurvedic rinses and I'm still loving the way it makes my hair feel. & it's growing... I'm not sure how much can be attributed to the powders, but I still use them.

fancy...thx for the feedback. I need to get back to DenverGirl's post and see if I can make some sz reductions while keeping the same protocol.

With my 'dreams' of one type of powder per condish bottle, I can just see bottles everywhere...wouldn't be able to get into the shower...:lachen:

I just got SAA today (I move a little slow on these things) had not thought about using it with the ayurvedic condish mix...even more intriguing...thx again.

Everyone just broadens my horizons...:yep:

You're welcome. DenverGirl made her recipe using 1 box of shikakai powder which I believe is like 100 grams and she added this to 32 ounce of conditioner. I added amla, bhringraj, brahmi, and shikakai powders to my mix in the right proportion (more amla/bhringra, less brahmi/shikakai) because I wanted a moisturising conditioner. I also bought a couple of months ago some bhringraj conditioner (smells sooooo good) and I added 1 bottle of this to my concoction as well. The key is you want it to be the consistency like cake batter according to DenverGirl's recipe. Mines turn out fine. This is my moisturising conditioner that I use once a week. I wear protective styles/low manipulation so I don't handle my hair but once a week. Maybe when it starts getting hotter, I will do my hair at least twice a week because I understand that the greater good comes when you use these indian powders/oils at least twice a week. I hope it works out well for you.

Well, I've been using ayurvedic oils since October of last year and since I have noticed thicker growth as well as more manageable new growth. My hair is still growing at the same rate, but it's very soft new growth.

I have just started using powders and a shikakai bar, so I really can't give a good estimate on that as of yet.

bump!

Yes, I like to know too...Im not sure what this is but I keep hearing about it and im getting curious now

I have been using Denvergirl's mix for a few weeks and Im loving it and my hair loves it. I barely shed 6 hairs during my wash. Including detangling.
I add SAA to my mix. I love this way of using th powders it gives me a chance to use up all those products I own. Im almost 17 weeks post relaxer I know how to control that NG thanks to the powders.

I have noticed stronger hair. My hair does not break nearly as much as it used it, and because of this I have retained a lot of length. I use a paste of 3/4 Amla, 1/4 Shikakai or Aritha. I used to do it every 5 days, but now I just do it when I feel my hair needs it. The principle of using oil on my hair and scalp as prepoos will be a lifetime staple. I use Shikakai on my scalp with a few drops of rosemary and peppermint. Then I apply the Amla to the rest of my hair focusing on the ends. I leave in it overnight or at least 4 hours and wash my hair the next day using the paste or DevaCurl shampoo.

my new growth became real soft. The amla oil has allowed me to do co-washes w/o having poofy roots. I did notice new growth at 2 weeks. I wish i can update: but my move out date from school was May 7: i'm still unpacking and have yet to find my cameras

I don't know if its the Ayurvedic oils and powders, but OMG, I can't believe how close I am to APL after stretching my hair this morning.
I wish I had a before picture of the same area stretched, but believe me this is some serious growth.
I do have wet hair comparison shots however, but plan to flat iron in July to do an official growth update.
The first one was taken on the 26th of March and the second on the 14th May, so about 8 weeks apart.

I agree with you. I'm schedule to get a relaxer touchup in June and my last one was in February. I was just thinking last night about how my new growth is so much more manageable because of these powders. My new growth is usually unmanageable, but with the powders by hair is tame and soft. I love the powders mixed with conditioner with added SAA. It works great!

I have been using Amla oil, Cocasta Shikakai oil, Vatika oil and Shikakai powder for the past 3 weeks now. My hair is stronger and I have very little breakage and shedding. I have been mixing the shikakai powder in my conditioner for my CWs thanks to DenverGirl. I prepoo the night before my washes with Amla oil. After I wash, my hair feels real silky. I tried the shikakai shampoo bar this weekend and my hair felts so soft afterwards. It's too soon for me to comment about hair growth, but I'll see. Love it so far though.

:yep: Pre-pooing with Brahmi Amla oil makes my new growth super soft and I'm transitioning, so this is great.

Vestaluv, that's some good growth!:yep: I've been hearing good things about Ayuvedics so naturally, I'm hoping that I can get good results too. I added Vatika Oil to my MTG mix the other day so I'll let you know how that goes.

I think I may have to try DenverGirl's powder/conditioner co-wash recipe. I don't co-wash much but this seems like a good idea seeing that I have an amazing stash of most ayurveda powders and oils, and many dfferent types of conditioners. You don't believe me - then check out my product list in my fotki:grin::drunk::spinning:. No password needed.
