Does anyone use this product. I have it left over from a while back and I have used it. I can't comment on whether or not its done my hair well or not b/c I've only used it once since being reformed.

I'm trying to train the PJ in me so that I don't get out of control. Before I buy something new.

Is this a "true" heat protectant?
How much of it do you use?
Do you use it on wet/dry hair?
Does it also help with detangling?
Any other info is always helpful!

Thanks ladies.

Uh...no...

How much of it do you use?I use a lot of it. It just doesn't have a lot of "oomph" in it. It's pretty lightweight.

Do you use it on wet/dry hair?I've tried it on both. Watch it on dry hair if you're using it as a "traditional" heat protectant. You're likely to get your scalp scorched! *shuddering at the memory*

Does it also help with detangling? Not really. You really have to use a LOT, like literally drench your hair with it.

When I had my brief "love affair" with all things Aveda a couple months ago, I went to the Aveda Lifestyle store to redeem a postcard for a new product sample.

The employee, also a beauty school student and a sistah, suggested that I try Damage Control in lieu of my leave-in AND as a heat protectant when I told her that I was sad that Aveda discontinued the Elixir (I think Giovanni Direct Leave-In is pretty similar, IMHO).

She advised me as to how to use it and that it would make a great leave in, but I wasn't totally sold so I only bought a 4 oz. bottle for $6.

I tried it when I shampooed and my hair just didn't have its usual oomph and slip when I used it as a leave-in.

It was too "wet" for a thermal protectant; in fact, it made my hair sizzle! :(

Personally, I'd return it to the store and exchange it for maybe a nice poo or shower gel (if you have more than half of it left) if I were you. It just doesn't have that many "protective" ingredients, like moisturizers and proteins for my fine-textured hair.
