August Hits, Misses or On The Fence (Hair Care Edition)

Hits:
  • Spring twists
  • As I Am Double Buttercream --So glad I finally got around to trying this.
On the Fence:
  • Rice water and Biotin Spray from Brina Organics. -- It smells fine in the bottle, but seems a bit funky before it dries down on my scalp. Hoping the rosemary oil I added will help mask the smell.

Hits:
-Curls & Potions Black Curl Magic and Curl Potion- when used together, they keep my twists from getting frizzy and looking worn out. I was even able to rinse my scalp without my twists seperating. I may be able to stretch my installs to every three weeks. Time will tell.
-clay washes
-Adwoa Baomint DC
-microtrims every new moon, as necessary

Misses:
-TGIN Rosewater Shampoo- leaves a film behind that my hair doesn't like, especially my ends
-Design Essentials- everything except their heat protectant serum

Hit:
Chi Keratin K-Trix 5 Smoothing Treatment (I tried it this last wash day, and my hair does seem smoother, but it also has weight to it)

On the Fence:
Bondbar 8 (It's fine, but it can't even hold a candle to Olaplex 5)

Hit:
Closure lace wigs
Silk Elements Cholesterol
Rinse out conditioner before Deep conditioner
Proclaim products
Moisturizing 1-2 days a week
Using products that don't work on my hair on my wigs

Miss:
Camille Rose JBCO and Chebe Buttercream
Mixed Chicks Leave in
Kinky curly Knot today
Biosilk Silk Therapy
Hair colors other than off black on me

On the Fence:
Portier Banho de Verniz
Synthetic Wigs
Long term transitioning

Over the past 6 months, I have gotten my relaxer touch up with Indigo Hair relaxer. This relaxer is supposedly natural and has Amla. Well, it seemed to go very well and the results where beautiful. However, like I discovered in 2009 /2010 when trying Amla oil. Amla makes my hair very tangled. By my second touch up, guess what? My new growth and relaxed hair was tangled like no ones business. So this time around, I'm going back to the tried and true. Getting my touch up with Design Essential.

Miss
  • Indigo hair relaxer
  • BC Moisture Mask
Hit
  • &Honey Super Moist Shampoo, Conditioner, and oil.
  • Tresemee Keratin Smooth Spray
What I am planning to try
  • Silk out system
  • Oshima Tsubaki Camellia Premium Shampoo and Conditioner.
  • Gisou Oil
  • Oribe Royal Blowout.

I haven't, but I might give Bondbar 3 a try after I run out of my Olaplex. I don't have high hopes though if the deep conditioner is any indication
@ckisland
Thank you!:2inlove:

I've save my Coins and stick to Olaplex & Curlsmith:twocents:

I did want to try K-18 (still undecided)

I also love #5....so when you said that, it kinda' canceled out BB:ban:

No problem!!
I watched this video before I bought the Bondbar, so I think I went in with realistic expectations. She made some really good points especially about the formulation differences.

@ckisland
Back to A/M/A/Z/O/N it would go.:lachen:

I would tell them via "Chat" it just didn't agree with my Hair. :look:

They will either tell you to Discard, Return or Donate it and I would take my money and get at least 1 Olaplex product out of the deal:twocents:

ETA: I'm glad I didn't buy it

Hits

Henna Sooq Cleansing Conditioning CoWash-Sweet Orange <---Only the second "cowash" product I have ever used and the best! Ready to buy and try the other ones.

The Ordinary 100% Plant Derived Hemi-Squalane <---Had this a little while and it was initially a "miss" when I used it with other leave in creams. Using it alone and applying more than one drop to each section of hair before blow drying yielded very nice results.

@Dare~to~Dream
These are one of my favorite "Clay-Based" Cleansing Conditioners

All of them!
I just ordered the other two a few days ago and can't wait to try them. I have seen some of your posts about them before. I wanted to try at least one to see if I liked it because I will be increasing the days that I wash my hair but didn't necessarily want to use shampoo for one of those days. It is is one of the best hair producs that I have tried all year.

BIG HIT:
Koils By Nature's Sage & Lemongrass Hair Serum

BIG MISS:
Looks like the closed their Shop? I hate that I gave away a bottle before I tried it:censored:
