Ateyaaa's Promoting NUGROHAIRPRODUCTS...

I just watched her videos. I dont think her hair looks greasy. It looks the way it always looks. I am not sure she is getting paid or not. She has not officially promoted the product. She is on some kind of challenge and will give her final thoughts on the product some time in the future.

I have tried the moisturizer and its a bit oily, but I have very fine hair. Someone that suffers from dryness and thirsty hair might like it.

LHCF is always talking about some new product or related item. So why cant she introduce a new product? I really dont get the impression she is unhappy talking about the product or really trying to sell it.

It seems she had good progress from 12/2007 when her hair was ear length to present, shoulder length(about one year). She uses a lot of heat, but does not try to encourage others to use heat. I really cant understand some of the negative comments made about her lack of progress.

Why does everyone talk so poorly of black businesses? I have had owners of all races give both good and bad service or have a bad/good product. You have to start somewhere, maybe the owner will get better labeling/packaging once his business grows. Changing the spelling is done all the time to draw your eyes to the product. Why down it without trying the product, the ingredients seem okay. It cant smell any worse than MTG.
Rain20

I do believe she has made progress from the last time because i see some growth in the length of her hair.....

I totally support black businesses and products(Hyrdamedral Naturals, Den1 products, and some other ones i cant think of the names of them)....

I know MTG has a horrid smell and true we are willing to try different products. I for one dont know products but im just more now particular about what i use on my hair. Came aways to get to where i am and still have a ways to go.

After watching her videos, I have purchased tons of aphoghee products and LOVE them. Her hair looks nice to me, very shiny and thick however I will pass on these products and stick to the aphoghee!

Her hair has been that length for over a year. I dont see a difference.

The only thing she has going for her IS that "swang".

... IMHO :look:

I noticed the same thing. Thats funny cuz I was just looking at her yt about an hr ago. Hm but I guess I can't talk becuz my hair hasnt grown since last yr..but i had a lot of damage and now its much healthier!

Let me guess another stupid company trying to sell us more snake oil and crap.

LMAO NU-GRO are tying to sell their crap to the "N*-GRO's".

I'm sick of these companies hence why I decided to shop and sell my stash. Joining this board has really opened my eyes. From now on I will be hoping to buy natural based products or give my money to small family businesses or well tested brands such as Joico and Matrix.

I find that a lot of the products targeted at the black audience are poorly formulated and full of cheap ingredients and complete crap. I refuse to patronise these companies further. The marketing ethos has not changed !

RANT OVER !

She don't even have the same "swang" anymore. :nono: No shine either.

ETA: What happened to her voice at 0:37 ? :perplexed Sounds like two different people!

Hasn't Ateeya been SL for like the last 7 years?:look::look::look::look:

Nice lady, but I don't understand why or how she has so much credibility on the subject of healthy haircare.

Seriously, I don't get it

For the Ateyaaa swang just use the chase the comb technique with no or light weight product on the hair in small sections. How hard is that?

Anyone can be Ateyaaa now yay. :look:

Her hair is healthy looking. She usually keeps it cut at that length. She decided to let it grow when she started promoting NuGro.

She may not have the greatest techniques but what she's doing really works for her. That's why she have so many followers.

That NuGro grease is weighing her hair down, taking away her swang. LOL :lachen:

But the first video I saw with her using NU Gro was in November 2008. :ohwell:
Her hair was EXACTLY the same length.

This is a woman that

- Relaxes every month or very frequently with barely any visible newgrowth

- Has been on camera on many occasions tieing her hair with a cotton scarf and saying I know I shouldn't be doing this but oh well as she does it.

- Often combs her hair very harshly while wet.

- Seems more geared into the look of the hair then the health.

- Has been shoulder length for YEARS

I said it before and I'll say it again, cute personality and nice lady but I seriously do not get why people take her haircare tips as gospel. The proof is in the pudding and the pudding is lacking.

I think she has this many followers because she knows how to work a wig, she has engaging videos and has a funny personality.

Anybody can achieve swang people say she has swang as if its this sacred rare occurence. You can get swang by simply comb-chasing and using lightweight styling products....its not that amazing lol

*havent read the thread yet*
i'm using the poo right now. i didn't buy it for growth. i was just combing the bss looking for anything that had the most natural ingredients.

i used some spray a couple years back when i was natural. again, not for growth. i just needed something to spray my twists with.

both products smell like honey, and work well enough to get the job done.

*going back to read*

OK as a relaxed heat user

I don't like the way her hair looks in that 2010 vid. It looks dull and not that healthy to me.

She's very pretty though.

She had a HUGE setback last year due to taking out a sewn in the wrong way. I would probably take her hair advice more seriously if she weren't so in love with weaves. Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyqRfMbYDJ8 (not for the faint of heart)

As far as everything else, I love her make-up and think she has a great personality.

^:thud: W:eek:W well, you were definitely right about it not being for the faint of heart!:nono:

That video is a perfect example of what I'm talking about, she needs to stick to the wigs and leave the real haircare advice to the longhairdontcare's and rusticbeauty's of youtube....on the real.

It kinda hurts my heart that there are some ladies following her regimen.

As a person, I think she's a sweetheart and such an entertaining funny woman, but her haircare tips make me cringe.

I used to enjoy watching her videos until she became a spokesperson for NuGro, Black Hair Spray and the other companies she has endorsements with. While I always thought she was entertaining I never followed her regimen. Fortunately I found LHCF before finding Ateyaa so I already had a pretty solid regimen. I just feel bad for those newbies that stumble across her videos and start following her bad hair practices.

I actually started out using Ateyaa's regimen before I came here. I used her Aphogee regimen and I stuck with that.

I didn't blow dry or flat iron though just rollerset my hair and I had great results.

I don't use any of the stuff she's promoting now like Nu Gro or the other things. I have products that work for me.

I learned from watching her vids to do the 2 step before my relaxer and to use it every 6-8 weeks. I think that's invaluable advice for a relaxed head.

She does give some good advice, you just have to make it work for you.

I'm not sure why she is not retaining growth. She does protective style for long periods.

I agree! I never liked her hair, and now its looks even thinner and flat..as in lifeless FLAT! I'll say it now as i said it before, her hair "style" can easily hide damaged hair because of the way it is cut, when she started to unwrap her hair(in the 2010 video) you can see all the breakage she has, and how thin her edges are:nono: I by all means am not saying i have perfect hair, but when you are selling(or promoting) products your hair should look in tip-top shape/health!

I also would not buy any HAIR CARE products from a women who mainly wears weaves, i mean its like buying a skin care line from a person who wears a pound of make-up on their face:lachen:

i don't think she's really giving hair tips in the "do what i do" way, she always says "do what works for you"
i think people are seein' that "swang" and are just doing whatever she does to get their hair like that.
that's why sylver needs to make more dang videos!

Just peeped her 2010 hair update. 12/07 - 1/10, about 2 years :perplexed

The ladies of LHCF *usually* sustain 2 hair length markers in that amount of time. Her hair was longer than mine when she did her first video. I ain't have none.

:ohwell:

Her hair does not look greasy to me. Her hair's lack of bounce is more likely due to the fact that she is 10+ weeks post. She usually relaxes at 6 weeks but is stretching. Her hair looks very healthy and is growing beautifully. I still wouldn't purchase those products though.:look:

Her hair does look "healthy" BUT thinner then when she first started and very limp and almost lifeless. Greasy, nah but def limp.

I actually started out using Ateyaa's regimen before I came here. I used her Aphogee regimen and I stuck with that.

I didn't blow dry or flat iron though just rollerset my hair and I had great results.

If I had to guess I would say she is not retaining length from the weaves. Maybe they are too tight. Maybe she isn't taking care of her hair while in them. Obviously she isn't using them to protect because it's actually IMHO thinned her hair out drastically since back when she was first introduced here.

I haven't watched the videos yet, but I do from what I remember, her taking down her sew in and being so upset because she didn't detangle before washing. Off to watch the videos. Relaxed or Natural I was never a follower of hers. Not for me.

same here....Aphogee has done wonders for my hair. I will pass on the nu gro stuff...

thank you! and :dighole:...:lachen::lachen:

OK watching the 2010 video now......UMMM first thing. Thin hair. Her hair is SUPER SUPER thin. I think she may be indenial or something. I wonder how she is ok looking at her now from back then. Ahh well not for me to really worry about. I am not gonna watch the whole video, no reason, IDC what she's talking about and don't need her advice.

OK watching the sew in vid. Her hair was still pretty thick here. Not bad not bad. Edges thin as hell but not bad. Now she is disgusted. She made a mistake not mad at her. OMG she is showing her hair she lost now. My eyes are popping out. I remember this video. Now she is talking about her wig. I feel bad for her and wouldn't wish that on anyone. I am gonna end the video cause I don't care nothing about the wig.

Wow, I just saw Ateeya's 2010 video on this nugro stuff and her hair is barely SL. I guess it didn't work.

Anyone else still using this? How's your experience been?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-OYR-jGnuE&feature=channel

:lachen:I've been an Ateyaaa stan for a LONG time. First following her makeup skills, then hair, then cooking and I have ALSO come to the realization that after the couple years i've been following her, she has made NO PROGRESS WHATSOEVER!!

I used to love her swang but when I saw that 2010 update video...:nono: Ish looks WORSE!! So THIN and why is she still at the same length?

I saw that video and it did nothing but make me want to stretch LONGER and keep trying to go natural eventually.

She can protective style her behind off but it just DID NOT WORK. I was fightin' for her for the longest but the proof is in the pudding. Really upset with her.

It's a good way to show folks how important it is to track your progress using pictures, t-shirts and videos because after looking at that video and the videos of 2007, she aint got nothing to show for it.

12/07-1/10?? I had a damn Rihanna asymetric bob cut in Aug.2007 with the back of my hair cut so short and tapered that I couldn't form a ponytail and I have surpassed her in progress. :nono:

I know she had a big mishap but STILL!

I look at LHCF, youtube, etc exactly for what they are. OPINIONS! You have to do what you think will benefit you. I do notice in most of the popular hairnista's on YT always say, what I do may not work for you. That when its up to the end viewer to decided if they think what they saw or read will work for them.

I wouldnt count her hair being the same length for 2-3 as a failure...Perhaps she chose to keep her hair cut in the same length. Seems to me she was basically looking to change the health of hair from whence she was. She seems to be happy adding length by the use of wigs/weaves.

I have seen ateyeea's wig videos.. since she feels a simba-like hairline is ok, she shows me her judgment is flawed and unable to tell me what to buy..
