I was wondering what you/they experience regarding growth rate, retention, regi's, etc. I hear and read about your growth slowing as you become older, is that true? Any and all info your willing to share, I's love to hear.

What you've heard is true for a lot of people. Menopause has a way of affecting hair growth/thickness because less estrogen means the your body cannot block the formation of DHT which then gets to your hair follicles via your blood where it blocks nutrients from getting to hair follicles. This leads to hair follicles getting smaller and the hair thinner. SkinBio believes that copper peptides can reverse this effect: http://www.skinbiology.com/renewingskinandhair.html#What is Aging Reversal of Skin and Hair?

The people I know who have thick hair in their old age are either very health conscious (diet, Yoga) or do the scalp exercise. My neighbor is almost 60 and has thick hair but swears it used to be thicker. Also, while my mom isn't trying to grow her hair long (she likes it short) she's in her 60's and her hair is as thick as I've always known it to be.

This was before I introduced her to S Curl:

This was after I got her on the S Curl bandwagon:

Nonie you are a bottomless well of information and I appreciate all you bring to this forum :yep:

Your mom's hair looks great. Keep up the good work.

I just turned 60 (and so very proud of it) and my hair is in better conditon than it's been all of my life. I've not seen any thinning or hair falling out; it's still growing :yep:.

Although hormones do have an effect, I think it all depends on the individual. My Mom just turned 72 and her hair is thick and gorgeous! She's not on a regimen, but ever since I convinced her to stop dying her hair and turned her onto Aubrey Organics and Giovanni - her hair flourished. She gets complimented daily. Now, I'm a different story. Since I started the last stages of perimenopause, it seems like my hair has stopped growing. However, when I look at my Mother's hair, I'm encouraged!

My mom cut her long hair off at 60 or so and it never grew as long as it was before. But I am wondering if that is because, even though she had long hair, she didn't know how to take care of it. Once she cut it, she didn't have the skills and knowledge to get it to grow long again.

My Grand is on a HHJ quite by accident. She was a hair dresser for 70 years when she stopped pressing her hair and began wearing braids due to back surgery. When she pressed frequently her hair never got past ear length. But this was her hair after 18 months of protective styling and washing her hair while in the braids :D

She is 85 or 86 in this picture. She said her hair hadn't been this long since she was a girl :yep:
