Oh nooo!I have come to the conclusion that unless my hair is blow dried or in twists, it cannot take buns for extended periods.
My hair was tangled and dry.
I do not have a tutorial. I spray rose water on the front nd edges and apply wetline gel. Then I use this headband that's satin and has velcro to hold my edges back for about 30 minutes. Thats it.Beautiful hair @Saludable84
What do you use to lay your hair down? Do you happen to have a tutorial on how you make your buns? Thanks.
Either your hair is getting even more luscious and strong or they are making them cheaper. Those good days hair pins aren't working for me anymore. They used to be very durable, but now they break easily.
I need some spin pins.. those are becoming hard to find on the ground as well.
They are making them cheaper! Lol but I was able to have a nice mini bun look suitable, until those things fell apart.Either your hair is getting even more luscious and strong or they are making them cheaper.
I have the same issue normally, but if I'm good about detangling and moisturizing my has as needed it's not an issue. Currently my hair needs a wash&detangling, bad. But I don't have time.I have come to the conclusion that unless my hair is blow dried or in twists, it cannot take buns for extended periods.

That looks lovely and neat! You have a good amount of hair in that bun! I know your front is longer than mine. I wish I could wrap my hair in a baggy. Does your hair get damp inside? Here's two pics, front and back.
Thanks darling! The baggie is not that big, it's actually pretty tiny. I'm gonna put a picture of it. I take the baggy off for a bit so it can get some air. It does keep the ends moist. My hair is definitely not bone straight (kinda looks like blow dried natural hair when it has air dried) especially the back I don't wet my hair, I wet my brush cause my hair gets a bit itchy if it's damp AND goes in a bun/ponytail. Me and rat tail combs do not get along unless it's parting my hair lol. I'm with you on the gel though. My natural hair was suuuper dense. I couldn't even get it into a single ponytail unless it was straightened. I especially couldn't use a brush. My hair would curl up before I was done with the first strokeThat looks lovely and neat! The way how you have your bun, I would only be able to do that with bonestraight, damp hair, with gel and a rat tail comb! Lol the good old days! I probably won't be able to do that for another year! My hair is so dense. It's fine, but very dense.
And you can add a faux bun, or phony ponytail! I really like that. I would cover it with a black dress sock and keep it moving.
My hair is so dense that I can't moisturize underneath the top layer of hair with just a spray bottle and taking down my loose hair every day is not feasible at all. I did a full wash and detangle yesterday, and took out the twists I let it dry in because they looked busted. I put my hair in two stretched pony puffs and by the time I got home to twist today, my hair was starting to tangle.I have the same issue normally, but if I'm good about detangling and moisturizing my has as needed it's not an issue. Thank you girl! I knew those things were flimsy!I've had the same experience with the Good Days hair pins. The sets I bought back in 2012 were very durable. The sets I bought in 2016 break very easily, some with just one use.
I also started using Goody spin pins. I found them at Dollar Tree (surprisingly) and at Ulta.
I'll say this. I have a significant amount of breakage in my edges. I still have edges, it's just that some pieces are long while others are short and when I put my hair in a bun, that area hurts because those strands that are long enough to be in the bun are on there own with no support, if that makes sense. So I encourage switching up bun placement.
I most certainly am! And I would bun 365 days out the year if my DF didn't complain about it
•Are you relaxed, texlaxed, natural, loced, or something I didn't mention?
Natural
•Wet bun, damp bun, or dry bun?
Wet - 90% of the time
Damp - 2% of the time (if a wash and go isn't drying fast enough)
Dry - 3% of the time (on an old wash and go or twist out)
•What's the length of your hair?
BSL - stretched
SL - shrunken
•Do you like to supplement your bun with a little extra?
No
•Favorite tools to use (hair ties, combs, brushes, etc.,)
I only use the shower cob when wet bunning (hair is soaked w/conditioner and only under the shower head) and the scunci active hair elastics
•How often do you switch position of your bun(s)?
Position depends on the style. Wet bun is a low bun while damp/dry are high buns
•What products do you use to whip that bun into shape?
When wet bunning I usually apply a leave in (Komaza care or Knot Today), olive oil, and Kinky-Curly Curl Custard Gel on the front edges.
When dry bunning I use olive oil and lay down my edges with Kinky-Curly Curl Custard Gel
•Favorite go to bun style/last minute bun?
My favorite bun is the high dry bun but that can be it or miss so I usually do a wet bun for a last minute style.
ETA: I don't see much breakage from buns. With my wet buns I will do a single two strand twist then wear a scarf around it until I am ready to go. Then I use an elastic to pull it together and tuck my ends. I rarely tie the elastic around tight (no more than twice) and I never sleep with an elastic or bobby pins in.
I don't take many photos but here are some.
