Are Keratin treatments beneficial to hair growth?

I have the DE treatment and yes, I feel like it helps me retain length.
I will continue getting this treatment as long as they make it. DE treatment is amino acid based. It's healthy for my hair in that it fills in the holes/weak areas along my strand. Amino acids provide strength, but it's not as severe as a hardcore protein treatment for my hair.

I tried BKT in the past. So glad I only did a test patch because the test section sure enough broke off.

I tried a test patch of the Arosci treatment. IMO it's not as strong as the DE treatment, meaning my hair didn't stay straight/smooth as long as it does with DE.

Pics, pics, pics, pics!

I wonder if I can get smooth roller sets with it hmmm. I need to go on ahead and place an order.:yep:

I wasnt able to get a smooth set. Thats a bummer but the pros def outweigh the negatives, so I can live with it.

MixedGirl, I never post pics. Just not into it. Getting my hair done this week. If I remember to snap a pic I'll go ahead and post.

What I can tell you is that the DE treatment strengthens my hair and somewhat relaxes my curl, but my hair still has lots of texture and fullness when wet, unlike it did with BKT and relaxers. You would never know that I had the treatment by looking at my wet hair because it coils just as it did before, but styling, drying, detangling are all much easier. No issues with frizz until the treatment starts wearing off. I usually have to get it redone every 9 wks.

I'm planning on doing my first BKT next week using Global. I'm looking for more relaxed curl pattern for a WNG in the summer. I also swim a lot in the summer, and it is a salt water pool. Does anyone know if this is safe with a BKT?

Thanks for your help, how often do you wash your hair? and do you use products outside the DE line?

So I got the treatment. LOVE it, will do a full review tomorrow on my blog may put a bit on the BKT alternative thread

Okay... I had to straighten my hair this weekend and despite trying to be more careful with it, it looks thinner than ever before. A tiny tiny bit longer but still, a majority of my hair has disappeared. I did order some Nexxus Emergencee to use on my hair. I'd like to start out with something gentle like that and then move on up to something like Design Essentials later. How often should I do these protein treatments? Also (dumb question) How do I moisturize my hair?

How damaged is your hair on a scale of 1-10? If Nexxus is anything like the Aphogee treatment, then I'd suggest limiting it to once every 4-6 weeks and then using a lighter protein treatment in between on the weekends as part of your wash day. The simplest way to moisturise your hair is to wash it, apply some conditioner as a leave in and then seal with a smidge of olive or coconut oil. In between washes, you can just spritz your curls with water but I've read that you hate curly hair and spritzing = reversal so you could probably just moisturise with a moisturising leave in on its own.

The thinness will resolve itself if you cut the heat out completely. and any other bad practises. It blows, I know, but every you flat iron at the end of the week, you undo everything you've done during the week. Right now you're doing the hair equivalent of busting your behind at the gym and then having a Big Mac to celebrate. :P Get a regimen but be flexible. Damaged hair has a mind of its own and you might need more moisture one week than the next.

Are those pink sponge rollers from Boots, by the way?

Yeah, I have had great hair retention since doing BKTs. Gained a good 5 inches last year. My shedding stopped completely.

My hair is much stronger, is getting thicker, retaining length and has stopped shedding. I get the keratin treatment called Keratin Smoothing Complex.:yep:
