Are eggs a good protein for naturals?

I don't see why they wouldn't be. When I was younger I would use egg yolks on my hair. As long as you balance it out I think that would be a good protein treatment.

I use to think so but I don't believe it penetrates the strands. I believe we say its good because of the immediate slight hard, heavy feeling it gives out hair so we say good protein but I don't think it truly is.

This thread is right on time, in relaxed but have been wondering about the benefiT's of using egg as a protein.

I don't like them. I never noticed a difference-- plus I usually end up w/scrambled eggs when washing out.

I didn't like it at all. Made my hair dry and crunchy yet didn't strengthen it. Also, a total mess to use. I read that egg doesn't penetrate- it definetly didn't for me.

I started using milk. I have been adding water to powdered milk. I really like it so far. It's leaving my hair strengthened yet soft. I'm still experimenting, but so far leaving it on 15 mins or so and then washing after has worked. Also loving it's benefits for face/skin with milk facial masks & milk baths.

I also want to try a homemade mix with chlorella or algae. I've seen this as an ingredient in protein conditioners and want to try it on it's own.

Yeah it defintely didn't penetrate my hair either-- and added no strength to my situation. Interestingly, I think it's the milk protein in Aubrey GPB that deeply penetrates my hair.

KittyMeowMeow - I just resurrected an old thread on Chlorella a few days ago. Chlorella and it's companion spirullina are types of green algae high in protein. I resumed taking Chlorella and Spirulina supplements this week. I'm hoping to realize some hair benefits from them

virtuenow - Very interesting! GPB was great for me- loved the softness & strength, but I stopped using conditioner b/c of buildup. I bet the milk proteins were what I loved! I swear, though, our hair likes the same things! Seriously, every post I see of yours re: a product/ingredient I was always about to post the same thing!

I kinda wanna hop back on the chlorella bandwagon  I still have a little bit of powdered chlorella left- I may try to get back into it.

Not sure if it penetrates the hair, but when I mix eggs+conditioner and apply it to my hair I get beautiful results. My hair looks shiny (if I straighten it) and feels great. I don't do this too often.

For those of you that use milk, try coconut milk + coconut oil. I use this as a deep conditioner and get great results.

I personally believe egg does penetrate, or at least somehow work, for some people. I know I've seen other threads where egg is working for people. I'm not sure I totally trust those studies because whose hair did they test these things with? Probably not "ours" *kicks can* People's hair varies- I wonder if porosity is an issue? Hmmmm...

Same here - I have only ever used egg for protein. I sometimes mix it with yogurt, canned coconut milk and regular rinse-out conditioner.

Just as BostonMaria I only do this before I flatiron.

KittyMeowMeow We might be hair product twins :). Do you like oil rinses?
