If I were to set and blowdry with the roundbrush once a wk would that be bad for my hair??? I love the results but I don't want to do anything that would break off my hair and have it damaged. Is it better to just rolleret and flat-iron the roots???

I think so. Do you see the smoke and the smell of singed hair when they do these blowouts. I know people that have stopped getting them, because it thins your hair out over time. When I go to the Dominicans, I tell them wrap it and keep it movin'.

i think it does to an extent if u blow out the the entire length of hair that is already straight. I just blow out the roots and even with that you have to be careful.. maybe use a spritz of heat protectant before going over each piece and be gentle if possible

Weekly, yes, but I don't think there is anything wrong with doing it once in a while. I personally only go to the salon when it's almost time for a touch-up to get my roots blown.

Yeah it's just that my ends have a frizzy look to them. I need to figure out a way that I can make my ends smooth...

I think it bad for the hair. It's something that should be done or occassions (or as a treat). But it really depends on your hair. My friend gets her blowouts about once a month, and it makes her hair look beautiful (she's natural). But I dont' like how my hair looks with it...I never have. They dry my hair out (I love moisture), and my hair looks straighter without having it done to my hair.

When I get my touch-up I ask them to wrap it or leave it as is.

Are your ends super wet when you set your hair so they're flat on the rollers? Are you using a serum?

That usually helps me with the frizz. And I only blow out my roots, never the length. That dryer gets way too hot.

Honestly they are not all the way flat. They are loosely curled and when I comb each section out, they just wave back up so its hard to get my ends super flat on the roller. my mom also says she thinks I need bigger roller, but I assumed the grey ones were big enough??? I use lacio lacio and I apply chi silk infusion on my ends...

work on ur rollerseting technique.. if ur doing it right and you let it dry properly it shouldnt frizz. you should lay it really flat on the roller.. it works well when your hair is wet

Never tried the lacio lacio but the chi silk infusion doesn't work? hmmm. Well I used to work at a Panamanian salon(I'm an esthy not a stylist) and they did rollerset blowers all day long. I saw these ladies hair grow right before my eyes. Now if there is anything I did learn from there she would put more silk on the hair and then lightly flat iron the hair on low. Maybe you can try that or using the silk wrap technique.

They flatironed on the entire length of hair??

I'd say probably not. I don't hold the majority view about heat anyway. The Dominicans are also of African descent and are notorious for having long hair w/ beautiful condition. They've seemed to work out a system where heat can be employed while maintaining the beauty and health of hair. If you were going to a non Afro-Latin salon, I'd say they'd probably damage you, but since you are...go for it, I say.

i love the results but my scalp takes a beating, and the HAIR is where the heat is going, so i would say they are too damaging for getting it done every week. i got them about once a month and this was my transition style; my hair grew nicely but not as nicely as it did once i cut out the direct heat altogether.
