Applying Vasaline like a Relaxer before you relax

Hi,

I am just curious, there is a lady on Youtube, ex LHCF member, Forgot her name:spinning:
She has great thick long, relaxed hair. I am SURE this is only a SMALL contribution but....

But before relaxing she will covers all her previous relaxed hair with vasaline, covering it like she is applying a relaxer.
It makes sense really, we stretch to avoid overlapping but this gives extra security.
I do usually use Affirm Preservo, I apply thoroughly myself before the salon, then they normally apply A LITTLE more.

Anyone use the vasline that way?
Noticed better hair condition?
What were your relaxer results?

I will be trying this on Friday so will let you know:grin:
Being a very fine stranded 4a overlapping is a big worry for me

I think a lot of ladies on this board protect their already relaxed strands with a bunch of things: Roux, Vaseline etc etc. like you said it just helps to further ensure your hair is protected in case it gets in contact with any relaxer.

I've been unintentionally texlaxed before but my last relaxer was very successful, thus I won't know for sure how well protecting the strands is doing till I can compare on perfectly relaxed hair.

Good luck with your relaxer!

Thanks, let me know your results

Some ladies on here may use conditioner too on thier relaxed hair before relaxing new growth according to a previous post i read. I will try one of these methods next time before i relax because i do my own perms and i can never seem to get it on the new growth only.

Yes, I think a lot of ladies do that. I've even mixed Vaseline, protein conditioner and neutralising shampoo a few times for my protective cover for the relaxed ends.

But BTW: your thread title doesn't make it seem as if this thread is about protecting the previously relaxed hair. When you say "applying Vaseline like a relaxer" it would seem to refer to applying to the new growth or to the whole length of the hair.

I protect my previously relaxed ends with hot six oil and then goop vaseline on the last 2 inches. Works like a charm!

I used castor oil once, can't remember if it helped or not. Now I use a product by Profectiv. It's ah-mazing!
