Yes a toothbrush! I caught this secret in another thread. This is supposed to dramatically decrease overlapping.

Has anyone actually done it? One girl was saying she was going to try it, but I never followed up to see if she actually done it nor do I even remember the thread.

I am getting help while self-relaxing so time really isn't a big issue. He will do the back while I do the front-which my front is prone to the most overlapping because it doesn't grow as fast and the hair typing there is softer, so that's where I plan to use the toothbrush.

If you have done it, or have insight about this, which kind of toothbrush do you recommend?

wow...that's definitely unique to say the least!
it seems like it would take a longer time to apply though...???

Yeah that's what I was thinking. But I will have someone applying with a reg. relaxer brush to the back of my head, and I will do the toothbrush method in the front half. Umm, just a thought.

oh okay, i might have to try that! let us know how it works out!

I tried it- ME NO LIKEY!!!

There was always more relaxer in the toothbrush than on my NG!

I did this on my last relaxer a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe I wasn't doing something right.

I wound up throwing the toothbrush away & using the tongue-depressor thingy that you mix the relaxer with.

That worked WAY better than the toothbrush!!!

Lol, thank you so much for your review! I am so glad someone tried it. I don't think I will try it.

Jlove, the purpose of using the toothbursh was that it would be able to get the relaxer on precisely moreso than the brush. it is to cut down on overlapping.

Novel Idea, I would just be cautious of the bristles grazing the scalp perhaps making it possible for a little irritation or burning. Not a bad idea.

I used a toothbrush before. It came out straighter than when I used my fingers. But like someone else said you have to really dip into the relaxer to get the relaxer on the toothbrush and then you might have too much relaxer on your head. Its kinda hard to get the relaxer off the toothbrush.

I think a applicator brush will be easier . next time i relax im using the applicator.

I get exactly what you are saying.

I've used a tint applicator brush for my last two touchups and it's worked out quite well. The toothbrush seems like a good idea in theory but pretty frustrating to actually do.:ohwell:

i think i'll try it with a thick conditioner first to see how it works, before i do it with the relaxer.

OT: I thought I was the only one who did this!:) I was so scared when I did my first self relax that I practiced with a thick conditioner three days before so I'd have some idea of what to do. I used a timer too!

Great minds think alike! ;)
