Bump! I would like to know if a lot of people are still doing this. I decided to try it and I'm sitting with conditioner in my dry hair right now. My newgrowth is DESPERATE for moisture and I'm try to accommodate it! Bublin, do you still use this method?

I bought some silk elements a few weeks ago with the sole intention of applying it using the relaxer method. Ummm..maybe next weekend lol. Post your results plz!

It seems like this would take a lot of time. Could you just not take a glob of conditioner and slather it through your hair to get the same result?

This is the only method I use to apply my DCs. I am less wasteful applying the DC in this manner.

It's the only way I've ever done it.

If you consider how my hair looks shrunken, there's no way I could coat the strands evenly or penetrate that mass unless I was parting my hair and applying to a small section at a time. It was also the way my hair used to be greased when I was a kid by my mom: part, apply grease to scalp and smooth it up the strands, then part another section and repeat. So it's the only way I've ever known to apply anything to my hair. It's also how I apply S Curl.

I think the only time I've ever just slathered things on my hair is when my hair was too short to part. Like a centimeter short.

As for the time it takes...that is hardly too much to ask. And since I only wash my hair in braids or twists, it takes me less than 3 minutes to apply conditioner to my hair, and I know no strand is neglected. Very worth it, IMO.

Highly informative post as usual, Nonie! I agree that using this method takes less time than most people think. The longer someone uses this method, the faster they can become. Practice truly does make perfect.

Hi ladies! I washed out the conditioner and my new growth felt softer than it has in a LOOONNG time. I think I'll do this as a prepoo with my Aussie Moist before I shampoo and DC on Monday, too.

This makes perfect sense! :yep: I would always wonder why when I apply conditioner with my hands, especially with MAD new growth, it would only be when I was washing out the conditioner that I would feel it in the roots, meanwhile my ends and outer edges were super saturated. Methinks it's worth the little bit of extra time to part and pat on that conditioner like a relaxer

I'll be doing this this weekend :yep:

I've been applying my deep conditioner like this for a few months. I usually deep condition once or twice a week. I use 1/2 jar of Jessicurl WDT, mix a few oils and sit under the steamer for 45 mins. - 1 hour.

When I started taking proper care of my hair 3 years ago, I started applying my DCs like this because otherwise my hair would not be conditioned properly. It's way too thick. I'm glad I did because now I can apply my relaxer really quickly. It's good practice.

Oh my - my old thread has re-appeared!

I have been slack these last 2 years what with moving and having a baby and i wasn't doing this method. I can see the difference in my hair. It's dry and brittle especially now that i'm transitioning because i'm just slapping it on.

I went back to it two days ago and my hair thanked me. Its still a bit too dry but i know after a few dc's it will be better. I used Silk Elements mixed with a little Oilve Oil.

I'm also applying my leave-in's and moisturiser the same way but of course not in the same quantities as a dc. If i don't not all the strands get moisture.

I just tried this yesterday with my moisture DC. Great results. I love tweeking my routine for the better. THANK YOU ladies:)

I've had a jar of this for almost a month now. Today I just came home from visiting my aunt (also a natural) she told me, "you really need to deep condition." :look: Fact of the matter is, she's right. I DC, but nothing like your method. And, it's showing in my hair.

So, I just used the Silk Elements Mega Silk. It's sitting on my head now under a plastic cap. Did I use to much? I used like 90% of the jar :ohwell: I was feeling like it was too much, but my hair was soaking it up. So, I guess it's more then enough. My goal is to keep this on overnight - 24hrs.

The application process took me not quite 30min. How long is it taking others?

I am sitting here now after 75min of sitting under my heating cap from doing this technique. IDK what made me do this today but I am pretty sure my hair is happy I did it.

I also away do it on dry hair so that my hair can absorb the product better.

Hey ladies, yes i'm still doing this,

When i started this thread i was SL relaxed. Now i'm APL natural.

I'm still appling my conditioner like this.
