If you suffer from ultra dry hair and/or breakage try this..........

I have been suffering breakage for too long and deep conditioning wasn't doing the trick. So, i thought my hair needed protein. It was still no better but getting worse.

I have 3c/4a hair which visually looks soft yet my new growth feels like a brillo pad - rough and dry. What was i doing wrong. I mean i'm slapping a ton of conditioner on my hair, using moisturiser until my hair was a greasy mess, sealing with oil, only roller setting......still at every wash i had a handfull of hair and my hair line looks bad.

Until i watched Lorraine S's You Tube video. She applied her pre-poo like a relaxer.....

Small parts, pasting onto the new growth and all down the length of her hair.

I did this with my regular Queen Helene cholesterol conditioner (as this is thick) with added Olive Oil. It took me about 15 minutes using my fingers. As i was going over my head i noticed the front looked like i hadn't put any condish on it. My poor hair was thirsty. I pasted my whole head down including the length of my hair with conditioner. I then put on the plastic cap and did my work-out for 30 minutes and then rinsed.

For the first time in months only a few hairs were in the drain. My hair was sooo soft.

I shampoo'd once with cream of nature and then applied my condish in the same way but not as methodically. Sat under the hooded drier and rinsed.

Very little hair in the shower drain. I am shocked.

I rollerset with a fine tooth comb for the first time. Just a few hairs in the comb.

I thought slapping a load of condish in my hair was sufficient but clearly i wasn't getting to my roots and thats where my hair is breaking.

i do this and i wondered if it was too much i only put it on my new growth and DC with it in.. it does great my hair is very moist and my last DC was monday...

Yeah, this is how I apply conditioner on my hair and on my daughters' hair.
In fact, I only handle my hair in small sections, no matter what I am doing. It ensures that I am not neglecting any areas and its great for preventing tangles.

Well, all i know is, with the way i was slapping on that condish there is no way i am self relaxing.

:giggle: SistaSlick said once that if you do ever consider it, you could apply the conditioner as if it were a relaxer, to practice not overlapping and timing.

Lol, I'm gonna try your method this weekend, and I also doubt I'll be careful about it ..

This is the way that I always apply my conditioner. It's the only way that I can be sure that I get maximum conditioner coverage. :yep:

I am going to try this tonight. Did you use a brush or just your fingers?

Very cool!!! I'm definately going to try this tonight even though my hair isn't that long!!!! Good practice for when it is long!!

I used my fingers, applied to the roots and then to the length of my hair. Your whole head should be slicked down and saturated with conditioner. If you leave if for 30 minutes or more its very easy to rinse out.

I'm not going to bother with an applicator brush because i know i'll get frustrated and my hair needs a lot of condish so i may as well slap lots on with my fingers.

I have very tangly hair and this method of applying condish got rid of the tangles.

This morning my hair is like a different head of hair. I didn't really need to moisturise. I think i'm gonna stretch my relaxer for a another couple of weeks

Wow, I've been going through the same drama with my hair with the breakage. And when I deep condition I usually just slap it on and rub it in, in thinking that some conditioner will eventually get in all the crevices. It's like a light bulb just went on in my head, thanks for this Bublin, I'll have to do this before our meet up next weekend so I don't scare nobody!:lachen:

Yes, it was light bulb moment for me too.

ha ha ha - i was thinking the same thing......I got to get my hair in shape for the meet up.

I was even thinking of getting a relaxer touch-up instead of stretching just so you guys don't think my head looks a mess. However this method of applying condish has dramatically improved my new growth so i may not.

Anyways the only down side to this is that i can see i'm going to go through ALOT of conditioner - it just goes to show how much the hair really needs.

Ooo I always do this! I have this thing about making sure the conditioner is on EVERY strand :look:

I always wash my hair in 4 sections. First I put some conditioner on the whole section i'm about to work with. Then I break that down into smaller pieces & apply from roots to tips.

I always do this :yep:

I don't use an applicator brush, but I do section my hair off into small sections and slather the conditioner on from root to tip!

I lose very little hair even on wash day...
