i havethe relaxer but the instructions dont say anything abotu app. time. anyone know?

It should state it on the instruction sheet somewhere. I used Index 1 and the total time was 20 mins from start finish for fine hair.

I do remember reading the application instructions, was the instruction sheet did not come in the box

I use the phytospecific index 2, the instructions say that the application time should be 20 min for thick hair, however, it depends on how thick your hair is, on my hair it takes at least 45 min. before my hair is straight. What's good is that the ph is between 9-12 so that the extra time does not damage my hair. But you can check the phytospecific website they have a 800 number where you can get any question answered.
