Four Questions

1.) So how long did it take you to...Move from SL to APL? Six months about I think

2.) And what products and/or techniques would you most attribute this growth to? Weaves, stretching (big thing), shampooing, oils, low heat

3.) What was the hardest thing you had to overcome while reaching APL (For example; breakage, shedding, layers...split-ends...)? breakage maybe but I had to start over going from no-lye to lye (took about 2 years) so once all the no-lye hair was gone my journey has been moving along ok.

4.) If you had to overcome something, tell us how you dealt with it?
no-lye hair is prone to break terrible

1.) So how long did it take you to...Move from SL to APL?
FOREVER... I started at about neck length and i am just about apl and that took a year.
2.) And what products and/or techniques would you most attribute this growth to?
Truthfully, none but washing weekly, minimal heat and making sure my ends are moisterized and stretching relaxers. I was all about MTG, no heat, but frankly it didnt really help.

3.) What was the hardest thing you had to overcome while reaching APL (For example; breakage, shedding, layers...split-ends...)?
Well i still have some issues, my hair refuses to grow evenly so that is a problem, but other than that i have issues with shedding and breakage.. Cutting back on how long i stretch has helped.

4.) If you had to overcome something, tell us how you dealt with it?

i can go about 7 months.. that was when i was trying to transition... I usually do about 3-4 months then it is relaxer time.......

Four Questions

1.) So how long did it take you to...Move from SL to APL? 9-10 months from neck to APL.

2.) And what products and/or techniques would you most attribute this growth to? pregnancy was what i attribute to my growth.

3.) What was the hardest thing you had to overcome while reaching APL (For example; breakage, shedding, layers...split-ends...)? post partum shedding, and a major trim afterwards. I am back to full shoulder length hopefully will be APL by june 08.

4.) If you had to overcome something, tell us how you dealt with it?
I will be switching to lye as well, as lye for me equals dry and dull hair. My hair isnt breaking though.

8/9 months

Microbraids/low-manipulation(not on purpose. i was just really depressed and didn't comb my hair for like 3 months. disgusting i know)

I got a 2 inch trim once I reached APL just cuz my ends looked a little thin but that's it.

Sorry if that wasn't helpful.

Four Questions

1.) So how long did it take you to...Move from SL to APL? 6 months

2.) And what products and/or techniques would you most attribute this growth to? relaxer stretches (12 wks), weekly DCs, and regular moisturizing

3.) What was the hardest thing you had to overcome while reaching APL (For example; breakage, shedding, layers...split-ends...)? dryness and breakage.

4.) If you had to overcome something, tell us how you dealt with it?
I incorporated protein into my regi to combat the breakage (Aveda DR, and Aphogee hardcore treatment). And I stared DC'ing with heat on a weekly basis to help with the dryness.

Four Questions

1.) So how long did it take you to...Move from SL to APL? Probably a little less then a year, like 10 months or so. It was slow going.

2.) And what products and/or techniques would you most attribute this growth to? Not wearing my hair down as much, or in tight pony puffs. Moisturizing more regularly, exercising, eating well, BT, I think they all probably played a part.

3.) What was the hardest thing you had to overcome while reaching APL (For example; breakage, shedding, layers...split-ends...)? Growing out my layers. My bangs are still only about chin length, but I don't think I'm going to grow those out. Also longer detangling time, which makes me not want to detangle which leads to more shedding and breakage later. Just everything taking longer.

4.) If you had to overcome something, tell us how you dealt with it? Just taking more time with my hair and babying it more has helped me, and doing more protective styles so my ends stay healthy.

OT: I guess i better devote all of "08 to APL(me thinks im SL...not sure) since my hair grows sooooooooooo slowwwwwwwwww.
So APL here i come 12/08:grin:

carry on ladies:grin:

1.) So how long did it take you to...Move from SL to APL?
it took me about 6 months to go from collarbone to APL

2.) And what products and/or techniques would you most attribute this growth to?
i attribute it to my shrinkage... i didn't have to worry about my ends rubbing up against my clothes because my ends were all the way up by my ears!

3.) What was the hardest thing you had to overcome while reaching APL (For example; breakage, shedding, layers...split-ends...)?
well i am not full APL... i have layers and the shortest layer is collarbone. the hardest thing to overcome is that because it is mostly my hair in the front (which grows the slowest) and it still has some colored ends that are always drier than the rest of my hair.

4.) If you had to overcome something, tell us how you dealt with it?
i am just trying to wait until spring to cut the rest of the colored ends off and get my hair shaped up. i figure since i'm going to keep my hair braided up all winter i can put off my cut/trim until then... also i won't notice the hair growth i get over the winter so if i don't see it i won't miss it... LOL :look:

.) So how long did it take you to...Move from SL to APL? 8 months

2.) And what products and/or techniques would you most attribute this growth to? surge & mtg in the beginning :look:

3.) What was the hardest thing you had to overcome while reaching APL (For example; breakage, shedding, layers...split-ends...)? split ends/raggedy ends

4.) If you had to overcome something, tell us how you dealt with it?

I had to moisturize my hair ends 2x a day instead of 1x a day. Always sealing with oil.

I want to be APL sooo bad. I just started my journey in October but now every week I'm checking to see if my hair grew. :lachen:LOL But I'm hoping to be APL sometime in 2008 hopefully by the summer. I would like to have APL hair by graduation time which is August for me. It would be awesome to have my hair fly past APL and be BSL by then but I know I'm dreamin'! :lachen:

Four Questions

1.) So how long did it take you to...Move from SL to APL? a year and 3 months

2.) And what products and/or techniques would you most attribute this growth to? weaves, my own version of mtg, bunning

3.) What was the hardest thing you had to overcome while reaching APL (For example; breakage, shedding, layers...split-ends...)? breakage, shedding, layers, anything you can think of I went thru it!

4.) If you had to overcome something, tell us how you dealt with it?
cried, cut and moved on. i just had to cut about an inch or more off - I had a tail that had reached bsl but it looked tacky.

Also, u have to realize that ur hair may not grow as fast as you expect it to grow, I think I may make BSL by 10/08 not 2/08 like I originally thought....

It took me 18 mths to get from above ear length to armpit length.
I had to overcome breakage and dryness.
No lye relaxers and to much protein killed my hair structure.
I stopped washing every week and started washing every 3-4 weeks.
I started stretching my relaxers to 14 weeks instead of 8 weeks.
My staple products are NTM, WGO and H2O.

It took maybe a little over a year, and honestly it took me not doing my hair anymore and going to the salon (Dominican) exclusively. I had no idea how to do my hair, so my hair was in bad shape of course this was pre-LHCF!

1.) So how long did it take you to...Move from SL to APL? just about 5 months (chopped 6 inches on 05/07/07 to just below SL, APL on 09/22/07)

2.) And what products and/or techniques would you most attribute this growth to? henna, big chopping all the old, severely damaged, previously bleached and colored hair, adding an extra wash (2x/week), DC 2x/week, Hairveda shikakai oil for moisture, rarely wearing my hair down

3.) What was the hardest thing you had to overcome while reaching APL (For example; breakage, shedding, layers...split-ends...)? I entered a shedding phase during this time and still contend with it. I also experience more breakage/shedding during detangling than I ever have.

4.) If you had to overcome something, tell us how you dealt with it? I just had to use patience to deal with the shedding/breakage issue. I switched to mostly natural products to try and get away from chemicals that dry my hair. My hair is really fine and reacts negatively to so many things.

1.) So how long did it take you to...Move from SL to APL? 10months

2.) And what products and/or techniques would you most attribute this growth to? I'm a Motions girl, bunning and stretching my relaxers to 12 wks.

3.) What was the hardest thing you had to overcome while reaching APL (For example; breakage, shedding, layers...split-ends...)? Wearing the buns all the time, when I would wear other protective styles they wouldn't last. I kept bunning b/c at each touch-up I saw good results but wearing them all the time was the hardest.

4.) If you had to overcome something, tell us how you dealt with it? I over came wearing buns all the time once I saw the results, now that I'm APL I do exactly what got me there which I intend on getting me to my next goal of BSL...

Im not APL yet hopefully by my next relaxer on Dec 20th. But I have a lot of layers and I think they have made my journey to APL very difficult. :wallbash:

I have a layer issue too :perplexed

I am still learning how to contend with my them. They are definitely slowing me down though :ohwell:

1.) So how long did it take you to...Move from SL to APL? Seems like forever. I kept getting trims or having setbacks and didn't get anywhere... or so it seemed.

2.) And what products and/or techniques would you most attribute this growth to? Not being lazy and moisturizing/washing my hair when it needed it. That and knowing when to leave it alone.

3.) What was the hardest thing you had to overcome while reaching APL (For example; breakage, shedding, layers...split-ends...)? Because I keep my hair moisturized I don't have a problem with breakage but I used to. I have layers but I'm keeping them because my hair is fine and thin. I don't shed alot (thankfully)

4.) If you had to overcome something, tell us how you dealt with it? I started overcoming breakage by using protein treatments (nexxus emergencee is one of my favorites) and deep moisturizing conditioners mixed with oils. My hair needs/loves oil (castor, olive, and coconut) so I try to do it once to twice a day. Castor oil actually helps to fill in my edges. I need to break out the BT (Boundless Tresses) again. This really helped me when I put my hair away. The growth was amazing.
