ok, well I will make this thread so that yall won't ever make the mistake that I made last nite. and if yall do, then yall will know the best way to resolve it...without chopping your hair off.

Well I'm 12wks post and I decided to get my hair touched up next week, so last nite i decided to do the apoghee protein treatment. okay so I washed, and then i rubbed in the treatment and i was like massaging my hair so that the trtmnt would penetrate all my hair since my hair was fluffy and thick. so i dried the treatment (as the instructions say) and when i washed it out and applied a moisturizing conditioner (kenra) and attempted to comb it. (Usually kenra turns my hair sooo soft and easy to comb.) Man, i had some SERIOUS knots in my hair. My hair was completely tangled...i couldn't comb NOTHING. i mean real nots, and they were even like in the middle of the strand, not just on the ends. I have collarbone length hair, almost shoulderblade, so i'm working with ALOT of hair. I tried my best to be gentle, it took me like an hour of not getting nowhere. and finally, i decided to try the CON ultramosturizing poo since it makes my hair really soft and tangle free. So i rinsed out the conditioner and put the poo in my hair and it was getting a little easier to detangle. i then put my head under running water and it was very very easy to detangle (with the exception of like 8 knots i had to cut out of my hair). Man, i was so upset cause i was doing soo good as far as moisturizing my hair and reducing breakage. So i'm all over it, but i just want yall aphogee users to beware...this product ain't no joke. On the directions it says 'do not agitate'. and they mean business!!!... I just hope that when i get my relaxer next week, i hope that my hair doesn't look horribly uneven, from the knots i cut out. :ohwell:

W:eek: W!! H MY GOD, I new it had to be the working it in part that must of caused a problem before I finished reading the post, I feel bad this happened to ya, hopefully if it is uneven you can just wear braids for awhile, I can't take another thread about hair chopping, too much cutting going on lately, in your case you had no choice, but at least you didn't panic and do a BC. Thank God for PJism or you may not have had access to all the products that came in handy.

i comb through my hair to get all the tangles out and then apply aphogee section by section. massaging in sounds like a recipe for a disaster. aphogee is hardcore. well done getting it sorted. i would have freaked.

I DON'T CARE FOR APHOGEE BECAUSE IT'S SO STICKY AND TACKY. AND AFTER IT DRYS, YOUR HAIR STICKS TO YOUR FINGERS SO DON'T TOUCH IT. I PREFER THE OPTIMUM HI-PROTEC TREATMENT. IMHO IT WORKS JUST AS WELL AND IS FAR LESS MESSY AND MUCH CHEAPER.

Where can i purchase it?

I GOT MINE FROM ONE OF THOSE ASIAN OWNED BSS IN THE HOOD. IT'S IN A TALL PURPLE OPTIMUM PLASTIC CONTAINER. I PAID ABOUT 4 BUCKS FOR IT. NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT IT BUT IT'S BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS.

OPTIMUM HIPROTECH RECONSTRUCTOR IS THE NAME OF IT

Yea, thank God for PJism or i woulda had to BC. Well thats good advice to section hair and apply aphogee. cause I swear, it ain't no joke. They should have skull and crossbones on the front of the bottle. :look:

I use the aphogee treatment immediately after I relax and neutralize my hair every 3 months. When I started doing that I noticed that my hair hardly if at all breaks off. It is a hardcore protein treatment, but when you relax your hair the relaxer is breaking down the protein in your hair and you have to build it back up.

The bold part was hilarious!
I'm sorry this happened to you girl...Like Asphxxia, I section it off before applying it, and after putting it in, I comb it through section be section so that it doesn't dry with tangles.

I've had a horrible tangle even with ApHOGEE too after not combing my hair for a week...NIGHTMARE

I'm sure you'll bounce back...hang in there! :look:

I suppose I've been quite fortunate using it when 20 wks post! My hair comes out so smooth and soft and a natural shine I love using aphogee.

I've been fortunate using Aphoghee as well....haven't had a problem with it.

Apply, sit under dryer until hard...rinse out...follow up with a moisturizing conditioner (without protein as an ingredient), proceed as usual.
