LOL!

I've been thinking. I used this just being about 2 weeks post relaxer so I think that helped me because my hair is still very straight. Now I remember back in the day I tried using Penetrait before a relaxer and man my hair was hard! Do you have a lot of newgrowth which may have caused it to be more difficult to manage afterwards? I'm not sure that this is a factor, just thinking out loud.

My last relaxer was on August 18.

Being I relaxed not too long ago and school is starting soon, I wanted a protective style I can easily manage for 2-4 weeks at a time. I figured doing a hardcore Protein treat would help the manipulation of my braids.

...Boy! I was wrong.:nono:

Hey Bosslady-:nono: I'm sorry that happened. I could feel my scalp cringing when you described it. Did you mention a fine tooth comb too:nono:-ouch!

We must have been thinking alike because I did an aphoghee treatment last night as well. I guess the difference is I already have my braids in:spinning: and I only used the 2 minute reconstructor. I usually judge how my hair has turned out by the loose hair at my nape. So far, everything feels wonderful. I followed up with a light spritz of the keratin tea reconstructor and aphoghee leave in. If you decide to try aphoghee again in the future, after your hair forgives you:yep: try a lighter one.

Someone had bumped up a thread clarifying what the heavies, middies and lighweight proteins were so I pulled the 2 minute out of the warehouse. I'd recommend that one on your next venture into proteining. BTW, I'm with you on shoring up your hair before braiding. I just do well spaced out lights and middies rather than going hardcore. Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the input DivaRox!

I usually use Affirm 5 n 1 reconstructor for my mild protein fix. I also have some light ones. (Aveda DR & Shampure)

I was being FAST! That is what happened!:wallbash::nono::perplexed

I think you may have done too much to your hair. On "protein day" i dont prepoo or do anything extra... in fact i use a clarifying for my first poo, moisture second, then do the aphogee, rinse and use an instant moisturizing conditioner for like 5-10 mins, use my leave in and rollerset...
The key is the moisturizing DETANGLING conditioner after i rinse the treatment. This stuff SAVED my hair plenty of times... and when im consistent (every 6 weeks) my hair retains lots of length and is less prone to breakage...

...me too.

I used Aphogee about a year ago when my hair was breaking REALLLY bad and it helped me out alot. I really don't think you needed all that protein??Was your hair really spongy like? Maybe light proteins are better for you. Aphogee isn't really for everyone.
You can try some Prosperity Control and that Pantene Relaxed and Natural Mask, some Mizani Moisturefuse or Fulfyl, or some Nexxus Therappe or any good deep conditioner you have laying around

P.S.- When I was using it my dad came in the bathroom and was like ":nono:Whatever you're using in your hair STINKS"

sorry to hear what happened to you. I use this 5-7 days prior to a touch up and just this shampoo and DC and it works fine for me.

maybe try again with less products and see how it works for you. it is could for breakage control as most folks mentioned. my hair has strived and turned around for the better within the last year with this.

When I use Aphogee I use a lot because my hair is thick. I used to have to do 3 dcs back to back to make my hair feel normal again. But then I started using the Aphogee balancing moisturizer and it leaves my hair a LOT softer.

Hope that info. helps

I never use that product without adding a conditioner. I mix a small amount with conditioner, and then it doesn’t get too hard on my hair, but still does the job! I hope this helps and sorry about your mishap!

Sorry to hear that your treatment didn't work out. I agree with others who said you may have used too many products. I'm natural and used Aphogee once a month. I shampoo with Aphogee For Damaged Hair Shampoo, then apply about 3 capfuls of the Treatment. After I rinse it out I follow up with a packet of ORS Olive Oil conditioner overnight. So far I've been recieving excellent results. Hope you don't copletely give up on Aphogee. I think it's great stuff.

UPDATE:

I didn't lose much hair after all!!! I was able to do a somewhat decent rollerset.:yep:

Overall..I will use it again but not by itself.

thank goodness!!! are you still feeling dry from it or have you managed to get someof the moisture back?

I got back 50 - 60% of my moisture. Next wash and treat day (Sat.) it should be back to normal.

I do see less breakage already though! It absolutely makes your hair stronger.

...too strong!:look:
