Anyone self-relax with lye??

I was just wondering if there was anyone who did this, if so how do you do it?

I've done it before, and I'll be doing it on Sunday.

Today: Nexxus Emergencee treatment, followed by DC. Moisturize, detangle and bun.

Saturday night: base scalp.

Sunday:

1. Base scalp
2. Apply protectant over previously relaxed hair.
3. Apply relaxer cream to new growth.
4. Smooth relaxer cream over new growth ONLY.
5. Rinse.
6. Rinse.
7. Rinse some more.
8. Apply mild protein treatment for about 7 minutes, then rinse.
9. Shampoo thoroughly and repeatedly with neutralizing shampoo.

At this point you can DC and proceed to moisturize/style. I am going to apply clear Color Showers and then condition.

I'm going to use Mizani Butter Blends this time so I will use the protectant that is included in the system. Previously I have used coconut oil. I prefer using oil to conditioner because oil is less water-soluble, so it continues to provide some protection when I start rinsing the relaxer out.

the mizani butterblends I bought didnt come with anything just the relaxer.. that is the lye one I beleive right?? if its no lye it comes with an activator or did I missunderstand??

Yes, that is the lye; the no-lye would have a small bottle of activator with it. You can purchase the MBB as a complete system, or you can purchase the relaxer and use your own base, neutralizing shampoo and conditioner.
