Anyone here in "maintenance mode" with their hair....?

I feel like I'm in "maintenance mode" right now with my hair...

In other words, I don't expect it to get much longer than its current length, and I'm fine with that. The reason I don't expect it to get much longer is based on past experiences with my hair, which has led me to believe that I "might" be at my "terminal length" :look:

I also plan on getting a good trim in a few weeks to maintain a certain look with my ends; cuz I'm in "maintenance mode" I don't care about this upcoming trim (usually I'm a little obsessed about how much the stylist is going to take off!)....

I don't consider myself "stuck" at my current length cuz, for once, I don't even really care right now about it getting any longer. I'm focusing all my efforts right now on the health of my hair and how the ends look/how much body & shine my hair has when straightened.

Anyone else feeling similarly (is that a word? LOL) right now...?

I am! :yep:

I'm sure I can grow it longer, but I need to focus more on things like weight loss and cosmetology school and getting my son ready for school next year (growing up too fast :nono: )... I'm no longer actively trying to grow it out.

Perhaps when things get settled, I will pick it back up...

I would say that I am in maintenance mode, but not quite how you mean it. I have been off of my journey for about a year. And I'm finally back at it again. So, I don't expect major growth within the next few months but I'm maintaining what I have and trying to strengthen it again.

I'm in maintenance mode not because of length ( I want to reach WL) but because I'm not actively caring about it getting any longer. I'm in 'stand by mode' I'll pick it up later. I know it will continue to grow but I'm not rushing or stressing it anymore...*it's whatevuh*

I wish only the best for you while you're in cosmetology school.

I know you probably wish you could press pause on your son's growth sometimes, but girl, they just keep growing and growing. I can't believe my son is already in the 2nd grade and almost as tall as I am. Pbskids.org and funbrain.com are your best friends when getting little ones ready for school. Educational cd-roms helped a lot as well. He was able to have fun, learn something, and actually retain what he learned.

Your hair is gorgeous just the way it is. You and Jenteel were the first people I followed ( fotki stalked) when I decided to go natural.

Thank you! You made my day

I guess I feel that way, because my hair routine won't change that much. My hair is still growing but I am not really all that pressed about it anymore. I just found out I can get it into a bun, so that is my style of choice for a while, instead of the puff only because i am not in to intricate styling. I will clip my ends once a year, and that is about it, low-no heat, co-washing, clarifying,....... you know the drill.... and of course henna once a year or maybe twice.

That is maitenance for me.

OP, I am in total, complete "maintenance mode". I like to think of it as the last stage of my hair journey. Now that I have spent the last 3 years perfecting my hair care regimen, and now that I have reached my hair length goal, the only thing left for me to do is just maintain my hair's health and length. Its almost bittersweet though.

I wish I was in maintenance mode (that means I reached my goal..lol), I want to see a few more inches. I just wanted to post and tell you how beautiful your hair is!!!!! (I just got done stalking your fotki...lol)

I look forward to maintenance mode but while I'm here.......
I wanted to remind you to update in the Creative Dreams Thread. I sent out PMs but....... the thread was bumped yesterday. Check in and let us know how you are doing.

Exactly - this is where I'm at. It's growing, still. I'm taking care of it, still. I'm not looking for anything new - right now - but that doesn't mean I might not lose my mind a few months from now and go all out with new stuff. But then, I planned on my long-term hair process being roughly the same as the process that got me there - so it makes sense, for me.

And, I'm nowhere near terminal, so that helps, too.

I feel like I'm in maintenance mode--not because of length, but moreso because I have staple products and a staple regimen that I've been following a while now and my hair has been doing great. So I'm basically "maintaining" as it grows. I don't even think I've tried a new hair product in over 6 months.

I am still want to take care of my hair and continue growing my hair but, now that I have my regimen and routine down, I have made recent decisions that I will only probably trim once to twice a year. I have even recently had a little setback, and instead of getting all upset I just went and pulled out the Megatek and KIM!

Dido. But I won't fully be in "maintenance" mode until my hair reaches shoulder length unstretched. But knowing me, I'll still keep stressing after that point too:rolleyes:

Will do! ;)

I can't wait to get to maintenance mode. Even though I definitely can see how it might be bittersweet to get there. I just look forward to being able to cut/trim my hair and not be so concerned about how much is taken off.

I think I am at maintenance mood as well. I am currently APL and I believe I am not at my terminal length yet based upon observing other women hair length in the family. My goal is too have healthy thick hair before length.
