Me! I have been flat ironing every 2wks since the end of September. I dont blow dry though. I let my hair air dry in braids first. My seems healthy to me. I make sure I deep condition for a couple of hours.

i would like to know how are you controlling the oilies?
LovelyNaps26 said:an important part to this question is how many who do flat iron that frequently and have healthy hair ALSO have fine strands.
i know asians, indians, whites who blow dry EVERY DAY and have long hair b/c their strands can handle it. even longhairdontcare2011 on youtube who has some of the thickest strands of a 4a person i've seen used heat once a month and still had issues with some damage at the ends of her hair.
Everyone's experience is different. If you have to baby your hair to retain length/prevent breakage and you don't use heat, significant heat may be problematic if you are attempting to grow long hair.
For the ladies that work out and are natural, how are you maintaining straightness?
I use coconut oil and a dab of crisco...my hair doesn't get oily.
To keep my edges from reverting, I use JBCO

@pelohello (and everyone else) do you only flat iron on DC days? How many days a week do you DC? (I know most people do it 1-2 times but I heard some ladies do it 3 times!)
I can't say every two weeks, but more like every three weeksI'd say my hair is healthy overall. The thing is, I don't have much of a choice...wearing my hair out curly isn't a great option for me, it requires too much time, too manipulation and too many ssks
I am thinking of flat ironing this winter, what temperature(s) are you ladies flat ironing at and how many passes?
