Honestly, I think I would have to do this over night.....

i.e. Poo/co-wash, DC, roller set dry then wrap and let the wrap set overnight.... when Ive tried this in the past it was only for like an hour or two and it looks ...lol...bouffant-ish the kind you push up erplexed LOL!

I would suggest that you go up a roller size, the largest one you can secure your hair on. The larger the roller, the straighter the end result

Soory OP, but I had to ask: Can anyone help me find more info on Lacio Lacio? Can some one describe "roller under handed?" How does this work? Won't the hair stick up then?

Lacio Lacio is a Dominican leave in product. You can do a search on here or the web an you will find tons of information on it. It's been discussed a lot on here. I like it a lot.

As far as the rolling underhanded - I just searched YT for the first rollersetting video I could find. Coincidentally, the woman in this video is rolling underhanded (at least the first roller was. I didn't watch it all the way through). Some people seem to get more tension when rolling underhanded, thus - straighter roots.

So yeah...I washed and DC'd (Organix Coconut milk and added Coconut oil)yesterday, then I set it. I did the saran wrap but I only sat for like 5 minutes, then I wrapped it. This morning it looks like this :

Yes I wish it were straighter but it seems as though whenever I wrap my hair over night it waves up due to the scarf moving I suppose...

I'm natural, and I can go over a week without a flat iron (when I'm wearing my hair straight). Surely, you can too!

The rollerset pic looks nice. If you're trying to grow, stick with the rollers.

Oh, I see...sorry about your wrap, then. I still think your hair looks nice though...when my scarf slides around in the night, I end up with one randomly bent piece and the rest bone straight. Yours looks like you meant it to be that way, because the texture is more uniform.
Anyway, I don't know what to tell you about that....have you tried wrapping your hair, and then using a wig cap or maybe a doo rag...do rag?..to hold it in place so even if the scarf slides, the hair is still straight? I can't do it at all because I can't keep the wrap in there, but I see ladies on youtube doing it, and their wraps come out perfectly. Here's an example:

I love her results, so I might just try the wig cap method after my next relaxer.

The saran wrap is referred to as the "silk wrap". If you set it with rollers then wrap your hair after you take it out. You then use saran wrap to secure it and sit under the dryer for like 10 minutes.......
Its supposed to help your doobie aka wrap fall better without having to use additional heat ( i.e. blow dryer, flat iron etc.)...I first tried this over a year ago based on a Macherie tutorial but Ive seen many people do it on You Tube, so Im sure you can find a visual....

@ Classic...yes, Im relaxed and used to flat iron all the time...I didnt really have much damage. But its all subjective because I was always growing out a short cut and before I ever get far into my goal I cut again! So its hard to say if I would have sustained damage over time from long term weekly heat use....

Im just trying to stay on the no heat train because I will be HOT if I have a set back when LHCF told me so!!! LOL

@ Chaos I have been thinking I need to get a wig cap to secure my wrap... I appreciate the fact that you dig my psuedo intentional messy look though! lol

When I was relaxed (before we moved to the UK), I used heat every single week after washing. I blew my hair dry and then flat ironed, but I didn't touch heat again until my next wash day. I kept my hair wrapped. I am sure that it suffered, but I always heard from others that I had a full, thick, healthy head of hair. I dunno....

I've flat-ironed faithfully once a week, for like 2yrs and still had thick healthy hair. To be clear, I would wash, blow-dry, and flat-iron once a week. The rest of the week, i'd either Caruso or wear a wrap. BUT there is a price to pay!!! The price I paid was thinning ends (not raggedy, but thinning). Like the last 2 inches of my hair would always thin out, so i always needed a 1inch trim after every 3mo relaxer. I was still able to SLOWLY grow my hair long. I would always get disappointed that I didn't retain as much growth as the "protective stylers" , but duhhhh! Now I wash/flat-iron, maybe every 2weeks (out of laziness), and I only need a trim like every 6months or so.

I have to agree with everyone here. Pre LHCF I was using my flat iron almost EVERY DAY and wondering why my ends broke so much. I thought I to because my hair is short. Now I'm trying to find alternatives to the flat iron, thank God.

I often wish I'd found LHCF a long time ago. Oh well, I'm here now.

I have reached my first hair goal. My APL hair is looking long and full, so much healthier than it was 1 1/2 years ago. It looks like it can take anything now so I have used a flat iron three times in 1 1/2 weeks after going months without using one at all. I'm so glad I read this thread so I can have some sense knocked back into me. I was trying to look cute wearing my hair out and flat ironing for the past couple of weeks.

The knot in the back of your head with the scarf, have you tried this: fold the scarf, then pull it all the way down over your eyes so that when you tie it, it goes over your ears and not above them. This will keep the knot in the back at the bottom of your neck and not all the way up at the nape. Then just fold the front so that it's above your eyes and you can see. The scarf will be covering your forehead. If you have acne problems like I did, just buy about 7 scarves and use a new one each night.

P.S. Have you joined the shoulder length 2010 challenge?

I will try that (scarf trick), I usually pull my ears out...

I do the phony phony/bun in about week 3 post relaxer BUT as its growing Ive been "acting grown"...lol
