I believe Babygurl has, and her hair has done excellent, take a look at her album if you havent already. I believe she wears buns most of the time. So far my ends are doing well so I'm gonna try to do a trim stretch as long as I can.

without trimming, cutting, dusting...NOTA!?!

Actually, I'm about to celebrate my one year no trimming, dusting or cutting anniversary, so far my hair is okay, I just ALWAYS moisturize the last 3 inches. I am in the process of updating my album and it will be ready in a few weeks.

Yes, Babygurl has gone 2 + years without trimming, thanks to her bun challenge. I'm on a daily CO wash/bun challenge indefinitely because I want to see if I can go at least 2 years without a trim...sounds crazy to me because I have trimmed 4 times this year, but I'll try!!

Next month will be one year without trimming for me, and I don't think that it's hurt my hair any. I think that it's really helped me to retain length and thickness. During the year I've just dusted once or twice to keep the splits ends under control. I don't see a deep trim in my future for at least another few months.

This month made a year that I've gone without trimming/dusting/cutting my hair. I have natural hair and each time I visit the salon, I ask her to trim it if it has splits and my stylist always says that my hair does not needed to be trimmed. :)

My last trim was in January of 2005. I am currently on month #9 of no trims or dusting. For years, prior to coming to this site, I got trims every six (6) months or more frequently.
This is my first attempt of going a whole year. I have about three more (3) months to go before I hit the 1 year mark. This is an experiment for me and I would never have attempted this without the use of constant buns/protective styles and the baggie method. We'll see what happens come January. I've been spot checking the ends of my hair and splits are far and few between. I do know that my hair is uneven but it does not impact me because I wear my hair up.

I haven't trimmed in over two years, but I think I'm gonna start trimming the back (longest layer) now that I am concentrating on growing out the crown area.
Trimming at the time just wasn't necessary, the ends were always pretty even, so I never ended up trimming.

When I was natural, I went several years without trimming and my hair was just fine.

Currently I'm going on 10 months with no trims. My original goal was to go a year, then trim. But my hair is in decent shape, so I'm just going to go as long as I can.

And to think, I used to get my hair trimmed every 6 weeks!

Yup, I went about 2 years. 1996-1998. When I was growing my hair out from halle Berry cut. no dusting, no trimming..nothing. It was fine.

I did, had to cut off approximately 3 inches at the end of it :(

I am thinking this would be a possible result:eek: . That really sucks! I trim as needed. I wouldn't dare think of going a whole year! I just wouldn't be able to stand it! But hey, to each his own:) ! I just know as a natual, and I love to play in my hair, I am gonna trim/dust when I feel the need, OK?!:ohwell: :D

I haven't had a trim in over a year. I haven't been wearing my hair out very much though so there hasn't been a need. Also, the few times that I have gone to get it done the ends look fine to me - not as thick as they could be but not raggedy. I'm just coming out of braids so I'll have to see how my ends are when I get it done this time. I was planning on waiting until I reached my goal to get a trim unless my ends just get too bad.

one year? girl try 8 years!!! i wont ever let anyone touch my hair with scissors. and ive gone long periods without cutting or even trimming myself. ive only met with bad experiences when ive let ANYBODY touch my hair. im a 4a/4b (it fluctuates, between relaxer and no relaxer..its actually quite weird) with hair above the middle of my back and ive managed fine without them. ive retained more length and ive learned that if im going to go without trims i have to cut back/entirely eliminate heat on my hair...and so far ive been reallyyy successful..;)

at the same time when i see a split end i chop it off..i LITERALLY go through my whole head observing strands and when i see a split i chop it off the individual strand to stop it from splitting up the root. it helps and doesnt risk length either..it keeps my hair healthy so i wont have to cut INCHES off to keep it healthy..

although ima be honest with ya'll as soon as i get even CLOSE to waist length, ive planned to either get a u-shape trim or a v-trim just to accent the length and because i think it looks so much more sexy- except my hair hasnt been that length ever..lol and ive never been able to come close.

Dusting is when you only cut about 1/8" to 1/4" of your hair, instead of getting a real trim (1/2" or more)

I had been trimming every 6-8 weeks for about a year before finding LHCF and before then, i had really bad hair care habits. My last deep trim was in March 2005 and I lost about 3" and that's what determined me to grow out my hair ALL BY MYSELF. I've done dustings, and i've been done 1/2" trims but it's not on the whole hair, it's usually by sections, so it turns out that my hair looks just about the same length anyway or about 1/2" shorter when i'm done.

I'm on a personal challenge not to trim or dust until December... but if everything goes well then, I'll hold it out till March 2006, until it's time for prom.

What do you ladies do to keep your ends looking sane. What products do you use for that?

I have and then my s.o mentioned what's the point of having long hair if my ends looked, his words "nasty", so I got a professional cut with light layering in front and it was worth it, my hair looked thick and bouncy and I got compliments often. Now I get a style cut 2 a year.

carlita- honestly, nothing with make split ends easier to deal with and, in my experience, its best to get rid of them..try cutting a small snip off each piece of hair til the split is gone. it may take a little while, but its totally worth it in the end...to kinda sooth them, the easiet way is to put a balm of some sort right on the ends..its temporary and by no means lasting..which definitely sucks..

I have...my ends werent raggedy but I think it makes my hair knot up when I go longer so from now on every 4-6 months. Im not in a rush to get to any particular length anymore so I can up the trims.

Meia, i don't use heat and I don't think i have split ends, i mean, i checked a couple of times and I didn't see anything, maybe a couple but nothing major. I'm wondering if i'm the problem, how come I can't see them!? or maybe they're just not there I don't know, lol.

i just wanted to stop having my ends out to give them the opportunity to split. Like the ladies who've done the bun or baggie challenge for a long time, what do they use on their ends to keep them moisturized? because the more moisturized they stay, the less likely they are to split, so that's my point for asking the question. Any answers? :)

heyy carlita!- if you had a split end, youd DEFINITELY know it..lol the end looks fuzzy, or it looks like there are a few splits, or it splits in two..youd definitely know..i recommend periodically looking at your ends (all over you head) to keep them away..hehehe girll there aint nothin wrong with you! be happy you cant see them lol cos then you PROBABLY dont have them!! hehehe

im in the three month baggie challenge..im definitely attempting..hahaha i got a shopping bag on my head right now ahahaha with mtg on under it and some other oils...they use any form of moisture..you can use an oil, leave in conditioner, mtg, your own oil mixture, or even conditioner..anything that adds moisture! being that these ladies are on the baggie challenge, they moisturize their hair daily and nightly (generally..although im really just starting out!) and make sure to focus on the ends with the moisture..depending on what form of moisture they used they either leave it in the way it is or wash it out (conditioner) the next day..

hmm i wonder if thats true the more moisturized they stay the less they split... lol...all i use is oil and i got sooo mannyy splits..i think whats helping them from stopping splits is keep the hair under the cap, and less manipulation..i cant keep my hand out of my hair at all..hahaha and im combing and brushing it all the time..thats probably whats messing me ends all up..

hmmm does that answer any questions? hehehe
i hope so!! lol and that was probably wayyyyy too much information..
