I  spiral curl sets!! They have become one of my signature styles..and i think shirley temple curls and spiral curls are the same thing..:look:

Not really, but I'm wearing them today. :ohwell: I think they look more sophisticated on short hair like the OP posted. My hair is BSL. If not done right, they can look childish to me.

However, I can't take one more bun, and I rarely use heat, so a wet set it is. :ohwell:

If Shirley Temple curls are the same as spirals, they look quite childish on grown a$$ women most of the time. :nono:

That's what I was thinking too Muffin! :lachen:Back home in South Florida, we call 'em candy curls. :yep:

<sigh> I'm so homesick......
That's right! Us Florida gals love us some candy curls! ;)

I asked my mom to hook me up with some candy curls this weekend, and she promptly told me "hell to the no" and that the look is dated and old fashioned. I was sooooo disappointed.

When I was a kid, my mom used to put them in my hair all the time... :/

...I think that's the reason I'm not too fond of them now lol

I absolutely love them! As long as they aren't hard/crunchy/greasy looking, I think they are gorgeous. I've worn them when I had longer hair and thanks to OP showing Nicole's, I think I can wear them again in the near future.

I like them like pictured above (especially that Nicole Kidman shot)..the curl is there, but there is shape to the hair as well...not like a roller or rod was just removed and left that way...not particularly fond of that look.
This just tickled me so :lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

I like lose curls myself :yep:

Do you think i can pull them off?
Or stick with spirals
btw i wear black wide framed glasses and very lightskin
What the hell does that have to do with the price of tea in China???

Me neither...at least not on adults. Shirley Temple curls make me look like I'm 8. :lachen:

Sometimes they are spiral curls like the ones on Nicole Kidman above. But I think those are a little different (more seperated or piecey) than the styles I posted which are more like a straw set or what spirals look like without being seperated. I think they are two different styles although very similar.
I love spirals on short hair. I'm gonna revisit this style once my hair is a lil longer. I can get Nicole Kidman results with a flexirod set, a bantu knot set, or a curling iron.

I Love ST curls :yep: but know I won't ever see them again in my lifetime on my head unless I buy them or do some major reconstruction of this cottony mass of wonderfulness. :lachen:

LOL! Chicago people keep it real, right? :giggle: :wink2:

Yes I can't stand when they're not separated at all, like the roller was removed and that was it. I mush mine up a little, separate the curls, and make sure that my whole head is not full of uniform spirals. I also vary the roller size, very small in the front and larger in the back.

I will say that Thandie Newton in the Eddie Murphy movie with Rasputia (can't remember the name :giggle:) had a pretty spiral set. The top of her hair was flat though and the curls were closer to the bottom.
