Anyone planning to do a long term (9-12 months) stretch?

If so, what is your reggie?

almost a year - due to the pregnancy.

My regimen:

prepoo & dc once every two-four weeks followed by a blowout/flatiron. Biweekly i give my hair a good protein treatment prior to the dc.

I'm too lazy to co-wash & dc every week- it's so very time consuming to tame this stuff! :yep:

I'll be going into braids a month before the delivery & wearing until a month afterwards and then embracing my relaxer with a big ol' :grouphug:

I also use coconut oil just about every other day- I've noticed the coconut oil stops shedding in it's tracks, softens the new growth & even makes my blowouts last longer when I wrap my hair nightly. My last blowout lasted 4 weeks due to the coconut oil.

hth.

oh, and my staple products are:

aphoghee two step treatment & protein treatments
joico kpak
ors carrot oil, moisturizer & conditioner
aveda intensive treatment
coconut oil
jojoba oil
cream of nature moisturizing shampoo w/peppermint oil added to stimulate the scalp & relieve the itchies.

I'm transitioning so i have no choice but to do so. I try to wash once every 2 weeks but sometimes it gets cut short because my scalp won't let me; i wash with baking soda and tea tree oil. Deep conditon with cholestarol. Moisturise when i need to and oil my scalp with olive oil. After washing i air dry and flat iron.

I started off 2009 with the intention of doing a long term stretch
Ended up transitioning lol

The same thing is happeneing to me. My goal was just to do a long stretch, but now I am in the process of transitioning to natural. I beleive I tricked myself.

Same here. So I guess it's the same techniques as stretching. If so I'll be stretching for the remainder of the year.

I was rollersetting every week but after my last henna application I had some breakage. To avoid a setback I've been deep conditioning and doing hot oil treatments like every 3 days.

I absolutely love rinsing my hair now and just braiding it every night.

It feels so good. I'm going to have to rethink my reggie.

I have 4 hair.. I just joined yesterday so I'm not sure if im a 4A or 4B but I have been transitioning for 8 months.. Im getting fed up with my hair though and i may decide to texlax it. I am NOT sure that natural is for everyone. I like to wear my air straight and it may not be worth the tango to keep it straight..

I think I'm transitioning. LOL
Currently braided under wig.
Co wash 2-3x a week
DC 1x a week
take out braids every 6 weeks for wash, dc and braid back up
BT & oils to scalp 3x a week with baggie and turbie.
Moist & seal 4x a week or as needed

I am! My last relaxer was in Sept of 2009 and I dont plan to relax until Nov of 2010.

I am also doing the Crown and Glory so I am weaved up right now. I cowash every two weeks and poo once a month. I spray my braids under the weave with a spay mixture (s-curl, WEN, distilled water) to keep them moist (every other day). I would love to do it more cause I love water on my scalp but it takes so long to dry and I dont want it to smell like mold.

When out of the weave I cowash on Wed. then flat twist outs and wash/dc on Sat. and flat twist outs. I am trying to reduce the manipulation and so far so good. I am not shedding much cause on poo days I also use alter ego garlic conditioner. I also steam once a week. No problems and I am loving it.

:hiya2:

I'm transitioning.

I currently cowash 3 times a week, deep condition 2ce a week and moisturise/seal morning and evening. I airdry 95% of the time in ponytails... started off with one ponytail and as my new growth grew, I increased to 2 (which I still do if I'm airdrying on a workday) and now I do 4-6 (when I'm airdrying at home). I like braidouts/twistouts and pixie braids (as showin in siggy).
Close to 12 months post, I tried washing in sections and that's definitely a keeper, I love the ease of detangling (this video and a couple others can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/MummysGirl81)

Good luck with your one year stretch, your hair is just tooo beautiful :lick:

I plan to stretch my texlax for 9 months. I texlaxed in Dec 09 and I plan to not telax again until October, but it depends on my hair growth.

I currently am just bunning my hair since I go to the gym Mon-Fri. I just add Scurl and gel every morning to my hair and fix my buns again. Also I have only been washing my hair once a week and I detangle on that day. This will be a KISS year for me since I want to lose at least 60lbs for health reasons.

I'm planning on hanging in there with the stretch as long as I can. Actually, I think I may transition back to natural. My last relaxer was October 2009. In May of '09 , i had a MAJOR setback with lots of breakage from a stylist doing bad application. I will let you know about my regimen. As of now I shampoo, DC and massage my scalp with oil. I'll keep you posted!

I'm on my 8th month of stretching and I plan on doing a long-term stretch again once I relax sometime in May (anniversary of year-long stretch). It's been good so far and I don't want any stylists messing it up for me.

I am 6 weeks post and it is getting rough. This is just about when I have to relax.

Sharifeh - PM me!
