Well basically I was just wondering at what rate a month do you except your hair to grow at to reach your goal? And at what point will you tweak your regimen if your hair is not responding?

Short Hair ladies we have a LONG way to go for APL length! What do you plan to do to get there? My plan is in my blog...the link below.

Me, me,me I am a short hair girl in the APL 09 challenge. I have no idea how fast my hair grows probably 1/2"/mo- if I had to guess though. Anyways, my hair loves moisture, I like to wash 2-3 times a week, I will also DC with heat at least weekly. I have had much success with OCT and Donna Marie Godess Growth Remedy, so I will continue to use those 2 aides on my scalp. I will continue with my cardio too.

Your growth is awesome Selfstyled!!! Another convincing pic for OCT...

I'll check into the Donna marie Godess growth

This is an excellent plan... I wish you would have told me about the Donna Marie Goddess Remedy before I bought that gallon of Bee Mine

You are right cardio will make your hair grow faster, I proved that to myself over the past 6 months.

I may have get some and let that be my last purchase for a while. You hair looks great SS!!!

i get 1/4 inch a month. but i don't have a hard time with retaining length. i think i could reach it by the end of the year. i plan to make SL by June/July and i'm short all around, so i know with out a doubt i will reach my goal for SL. i don't think i will have to change what i'm doing now or products unless i want to try something new. if my hair starts to not respond, i just clarify. i just plan on keeping it simple for awhile.

From what i have seen my hair grows 3/4 of an inch a month without growth aids. Now that I am no longer trying to transition I'm going to have less shedding and breakage issues so I expect to retain a lot more of my growth in the next 3 months than the previous 3 months. For me it has always been a challenge to retain length when I get to the length I am at now. I plan to bun, wig, DC and roller set my way to at least full SL by 12/31/09.

I'm in both. I expect the nape to make APL. I have a couple of inches to go there. The rest of my hair will make shoulder length and in some places halfway between SL and APL. Actually I'm not sure how fast my hair grows. I just know it takes a couple years to go from very short to APLish in general.

I believe my hair grows 1/2 inch a month, without making any extra effort. I think I will reach a nice, full pretty shoulder length by June and I need 6 more inches for my longest layer to reach APL. I can do that by the end of the year if I manage to combat breakage. If my growth aid & vitamin regimen proves effective, I'm hoping I will see 1 inch a month. :yay:

I am in the APL challange at this time I am at neck lenght about to reach the top of my back I need some growth aids asap. I can not tell how much my hair grows per month. Joined the challange for support & suggestions for faster growth

Me!! I'm in the SL & APL challenge. I use MT/OCT sparingly, but Ayurveda will be what I use to give me that extra edge.....

Im in the APL 09 challenge. My hair is growing slow nowadays, I don't know why. But I using OCT mixed with oil, for a growth aid. I know my hair is growing, but not fast enough. Im also excited cause this is my first topical growth aid. Looking at "SelfStyled" progress, I know I will see some growth. That is living proof.

Im about to join the SL challenge. i just cut and relaxed my natural hair into a short pixie, about 3 to 4 inches at the top, 1 inch in the back and nape. I'm pretty excited to get my 6+ inches a year. The hardest thing for me right now is finding a way to not use my CHI to style my short hair and stretching my relaxer. i just might have to relax the nape frequently

I am in the APL Challange
The photo in my siggy is from the day I started the forum back in September
The photo I have attached is from 12/18/08
I do not want to post any more photos until March.
The biggest change for me was to stop using flat irons every day
and to start back with my deep conditioning.

But I need growth aids prey for me:nono:

My question is there a photo of shoulder length and APL length I can go by.
At this point I am guessing I am Neck length but I do not know ???

I joined both the SL and APL 2009 challenges. SL by June 2009 and APL by December 2009. Very agressive but I figured it was worth a try. I am using MT, BM and OCT, deep conditioning, washing more frequently and just trying to be very DILIGENT about caring for my hair in a way I have never done before.

We can do this ladies!!! Through all the support on LHCF and a team of short haired ladies by our sides, we can do this. And next January we can step in and encourage all the ladies who will be just embarking on the same journey we did!!!!

i completely agree!!! we can do this! if these growth aides give me at least 3/4th's an inch i might be full SL by September!! im praying for it!lol, it's good to have great support from other short haired ladies, it's so hard to get form EL to SL...i know im keeping my hair up and locked away once i reach this goal!

I'm in the APL challenge. I expect to reach my goal by the end of Summer '09.

My plan is to keep it super-simple. Rollerset or flat-iron every 1-2 weeks, pre-poo & deep condition with each wash. I'm using mostly the Aphogee line, with a few favorites like CSI, GF smoothing milk & serum, and silicon mix. If I get tired of my hair, I'll just stick it in a bun or under a phony pony.

Keeps to success in 09:
1. Keeping my scalp clean
2. No growth aids or bandwagons
3. Sticking with the same product line
4. Taking good care of my ends & wrapping at night
5. Tracking my progress

I'm only expecting 1/2 inch of growth a month. With a lot of scalp massages, I could probably get 3/4 of an inch, but it's not going to happen this semester. Good luck ladies, see you at APL!

These are the 2 of the things that I was doing to sabotage my hair before I joined LHCF. It seems so basic, but I didn't take time to DC & I used direct heat every day  so that my style could look perfect :look:.

Besides that, I was letting product build up on my hair and scalp and I never, ever moisturized.

I signed up for both the SL and APL challenges. I was hoping to have made SL already. I'm hoping to get there by June (if not sooner) and APL by Dec. 09. I plan to continue using Ayurvedic powders and oils, lots co washing, and DC'ing. I also plan to increase my protein intake, drink more water, and exercise more this year. I'm not sure how fast my hair grows but I'm hoping for atleast 3/4 inch a month.

I went into my PJ graveyard and I'm thinking about trying some of my old growth aids. (I don't plan to jump on any new bandwagons this year).

i don't think you have a long way to go. you will be there in no time.

Hey there. Im in the challenge as well. Not really sure how much my hair grows, but I will say approx .5 inches per month (saying this because I got my hair colored on Nov 1 and I already have over an inch of black roots). Not sure if I will attain APL by the end of the year, but it's worth a shot. It's always good to have a goal to work towards.

I'm in it. And I have no idea what I'm gonna do. I wrote a post about how confused I am and lost in my hair regiment..... I'm probably a lost cause

I'm in both the SL and APL Challenges. I think I'll make it because I only need to "grow" and maintain my regimen. My hair is already in a healthy state. I average .5 inches per month.

Well I no I'm like days late but thank you to all the ladies who replied to my forum.

And again stick to ur regimens and you will reach your goals. I cant wait to post on the 15th I feel growth hopefully I will have a good comparison.

I'm in the SL...again. I keep trimming and I need to stop. I'm also in the LHCF Bootcamp which is a problem because with my nape area being so unruly (it used to be shaved and it's grown out now...but not enough) I just can't deal with it...I hope I make SL by August and APL by next March, my hair grows reeeaaaalllllyyyyy sssssslllllooooowww...hahaha! I mean it. It's slow.

I am neck length stretched and I am in both. I am not sure how fast my hair grows, but I am up for the challenge.
