That grow 1/3 inch per month?:wallbash:
Only with MN do I get 1/2 an inch per month. Does this mean we have to baby the ends for longer than our faster-growing haired friends (as the ends are on our head for longer by the time they reach longer lengths)?

I actually don't know my growth rate. I'm pretty sure it's probably slower than the "average" but I haven't done and extreme protective styling/good haircare/healthy diet & exercise regimen for a year straight so I'm not sure.

But, yes that does mean your ends are going to be older and therefore you need to be even more careful with them over time. Remember, combing roughly, heat, and chemicals all mess up the cuticle and once that's gone breakage is inevitable. So be gentle.

My growth rate is about 1/3 inch, sometimes a bit more. We're not oddballs. :grinwink:

I used to get annoyed that my hair didn't grow faster, but in time I realized it's all about length retention. Someone can grow 1/2 inch per month but only retain 1/4 inch. If I retain all my 1/3 inch, I'm good to go!

I baby my ends majority of the time, but I don't mind it since I don't want to spend hours on my hair anyway. Just twist it up, wear it that way for several weeks, and go about my non-hair business.

I'm going to go ahead and claim "oddball" status :dork:. I'm transitioning and even now after 7.5 months in, I estimate only 2 inches (hand stretched). Yeah I know about shrinkage and different rates of growth in different areas of the head but that's not making me feel any better.... so keep the consolation!

Although I'm going to lose my relaxed hair anyway through frequent trims, I'm still in the practice of babying my ends. I figure why not start the good habit now.

Still glad I'm transitioning though. When I was relaxed, my hair seemed to not show any growth anymore.

I definitely don't grow 1/2 an inch per month... I don't measure but when I stretched it out a couple of days ago, it definitely did NOT look like 3 inches (I'm 6.5 months post relaxer).

My growth rate? I have no clue but I won't be surprised if it's 1/3 inch per month or even less.

Babying the ends is really good advice:yep:. I never really thought about it that way although I do make sure I pay extra attention to my ends when moisturising and sealing :-)

Nice reading the change in your siggy :-) Good to know your transition's back on track :yep:
