OTT: Your texturized mane looks beautiful. why have you decided to chop? I'm not chopping, i'm not sure how i'll cope with my full natural texture yet, so call me chicken.

I dyed my hair back to black and now my hair is so dry. I'm 3 months trans chemical, so 9 more months to go to make it a whole year. You are a master of natural and tex hair, so you will have no problem with your hair.

Supposed to be May of 06 (a full year of transitioing) but Im so scared... Besides I already chopped off quite a bit... I may hold off until November (18 months). I think its will be all grown out by then . Its about 50-50 natural now since I got a hair cut...

I feel you, and i'm not doing another BC ever again. I just want it the length it is now, but all natural.

Divine and den1, I get goosebumps looking at your waves!

I'm relaxed and chopping for 2006. Actually, the big chop is TODAY and I'm both nervous and excited. My hair's just past shoulder-length, but I've been experiencing serious shedding and breaking that I can't seem to repair. I think it's stress. :ohwell:

Anyway, I'm needing a change. I figure since it's a new year, why not go for it? Start over with a fresh head of hair and a healthy regimen.

Thanks for the encouragement, tishee! I'm in Nashville. Wish I had the courage to go natural, but I'm still a little chicken right now. I admire those who can though.

I've only been transitioning for 2 months so far, and I plan on chopping no earlier than a year because I REALLY don't want short short hair. The earliest I'll chop is probably Oct. '06 that will be a year. I might also wait til Dec. '06, so that I'll have a fresh healthy head of natural hair for '07..... Who knows:think:

I started with short hair and I already BC'd last year in December, DID NOT LIKE styling that damned afro, I was in hell trying to fight with it everyday. But I know a lot more now. Aaaanyway...I was thinking that as soon as the 2inches grow out, I 'll be good I am hoping it will be in a few months. I have 2 inches of relaxer in some areas and like 4 in others...I don't want to chop at all but if I have to, I am hoping Summer 2006 my b-day is in July, maybe then.

Yep. I'm chopping at the end of March 2006. Whatever length I have at that point, I better learn to love it.

Oh duh- I didn't see this post- so it's just the double processing?

Im chopping in August or September (17/18 month mark). By then, my hair should be a little more than shoulder length when straightened.

Sorry to read about your dye problem!! Honestly divine, i don't think i could handle natural hair again, i'm just strechting my relaxer as much as possible, and just see how it goes. I know my hair won't be no where near enough as beautiful as a lot natural haired ladies on this forum.

Thank-you and congrats on your big chop!!! I wish i was as brave.

It's almost been a year and I'm still not ready to chop :look:! I think maybe 2007 or January 2008 and I'll be ready to chop. I really want my natural hair to grow out some more --- and at the rate it's growing, it's going to take a WHILE! I've worn really short hair before and I already have major shrinkage so there will be no short styles or twa's for me :nono:! I want natural hair that is a few inches below my ears or shoulder length before I chop off the rest of my relaxed ends.

I feel like lovelymissyoli. I don't plan to chop off my relaxed ends until 2007 because I want some length to work with. My roots are really thick but I am dealing with the two textures.

O.T. Lovelymissyoli I like your braids.

anywhere between April 2006 (18mths) to June 2006 (20mths)...a time when the weather is warm so I can condition wash daily and maximize growth

Thanks girl . I had to get them redone but they're still holding strong. I'm on a braid challenge and hopefully I can retain a lot of new growth to hold me until I decide to chop!

I will be chopping in 2006. I prefer dealing with one type of texture than two and I could always use extensions and wigs for length.
Good luck everyone.
