Another Perfect Pass with Dax (Pic Heavy)

Okay, I rode my bike to Sally's and picked up Ampro curling wax. I love this stuff. I went very light because it's, well, wax, but my hair feels great!!
I applied to already pressed, poofy hair. Ran the pressing comb thru it in big sections and did bantu knots. I'm amazed. Can't wait to see how it holds up tomorrow. I'll try a braid out as well. I'm in hairven right now. Lol!

I've never used Dax and there seems to be a couple different kinds. Stores around me don't carry the Dax marcel curling wax. Seems the key words are curling wax. So, has anyone ever used Ampro curling wax? I think I'm gonna try some of this to hold my curls in place.

OP, those results look good and promising! I remember Dax and Royal Crown were staples in our bathroom cabinet when it came time to get our hair pressed with the comb on the stove as little girls! Both left my hair shiny, yet full of body, and it didn't revert very easily. These days, my hair seems to be a lot softer (in its natural texture), and it reverts very easily just due to the humidity in my home! My mother has worn a "Halle Berry Cut" for many years off and on, and I remember Ampro Curling Wax (orange wax in a clear jar with a black cap) being part of her morning curling iron routine to refresh her curls from having the hair wrapped and tied down overnight.

Her hair always looked fresh, not heavy, and the curls lasted and lasted until the next wash or salon visit, which was usually 2 weeks! I don't really straighten my hair, but when I do, I'm gonna dig up my old jar of Dax or get me some Royal Crown and see if that combats the urge my hair has to revert...Sabino Moisture Block may be on hand as well, cuz I ain't spending 2-3 hrs washing and straightening to be poofy half a day later! <--which is PRECISELY why I don't waste my time pressing in the first place unless its a special occasion, which MIGHT be ONCE per year. Oh well, I suppose the lack of heat on my hair is for the best! lol The key with these heavy pomades and waxes is to use a SMALL amount, just to barely coat the strands and provide that barrier against humidity, otherwise like most women who have used grease too liberally complain, it makes the hair sticky, heavy, and un-movable (doesn't blow in the wind, or no body), lol. I use grease still, but only to seal my moisturizing products and moisture in, or to lubricate the scalp or hair against a heat appliance.

I'm not the best at taking cell phone pictures. They also don't turn out very clear. Here's a pic of the back of my bantu knot. It's nice and silky yall and I'm lovin' it. Can't wait until it gets a little bigger throughout the day. I had to bc twice within the last two years and I'm happy to have gotten to this length again.

oh, told mom about my great find (Ampro curl wax) and she pulled some out of the top of her closet. She's had the same curl wax for years. Why has mom been holding out on me?

Stopping back in to say that my hair has very little frizz. I'm verrrry pleased! Curling wax and maxiglide have been my best purchases this year. My summer style will be wash, dc, blowdry (80% tension method), curl wax (maybe a light press or one more run thru with blow dryer and comb attachment) and twist outs/bantu knots.

Exactly! When I first started using curlign wax, I would use a whole glod on a section of hair, and my hair would be stiff and thin. As I started to use it more I realized that you only needed a little, and it went a very long way! touch ups are easy and the hair stays moisturized. That was always my biggest problem with striaghtening my hair. It was always dry and brittle with in the first week. I combed my hair yesterday and I only saw a couple of strands in the sink, compared to the pile that would have fallen out prior to using curling wax
