Has anyone seen this and can comment? Or refuses to see it and can comment?
I saw {briefly} a panel from the movie on Channel 13 public tv
and saw an excerpt from the film ...it sounded/seemed ridiculous to me...though I believe there are divine signs and I believe there are angels and I believe there are demons..and these seem to be intergral in the film ?
In this premise it's as authentic as a three dollar bill or is it? Is this a thought-provoking movie for Christians..in that.... does it draw one closer to God or no? Does it help one re-exmine one's Christian values?

.I didn't read da vinci code either......

I will probably see the movie because of genre preference and reseach purposes because of the spiritual gift I believe have. I would not recommend this to other Christians. I know what its like to be shifted away from biblical principle. If you watch without truth in your heart, its very confusing.

It probably will not give you a better understanding of the Bible or God. Its a hollywood flick so its purpose is to make money based on contraversy.

I didn't read the Da Vinci Code, but I wanna see this movie. I agree with what Prettyface said about having truth in your heart.

I read Da Vinci Code. Loved the book. Hate the movie. But the material would lead you astray definitely. Jesus having a wife and kid? Thats not what my bible reads. Though its a very interesting spin on history.

I remember when the DaVinci Code movie came out - I was attending a large charge that had a large singles ministry. The ministry actually went to see the movie together so that they could discuss it afterwards. I thought that was good so that people could see what was being fed to people as lies but could also help with any confusion that may have come up.

I am not sure if I will see Angels and Demons. I love movies where there's something to solve (like the Nicolas Cage ones can't remember the name) and that would be the only reason but my overly analytical mind probably does not need to see this movie at this point in my walk.

I won't be seeing it... I think it's the Devil's way of creating diversion. You know Satan isn't very creative.. he keeps doing the same thing over and over and over... lol

God Bless you.

I happened to see the previews of this movie a while back and found myself very uncomfortable. I was with a friend and after the preveiw was over we just looked at each other and said we will not be seeing that movie. I found myself very disturbed by the imagery and subject matter. I consider myself more liberal than most on this forum, but i think for me personally I cannot watch or support projects that "play with God".

I wont be seeing the movie. After the da vinci code came out, it amazed how many people were deceived by a fiction novel. There was this website I visited a while back designed by an atheist who showed how fictional the book was and how the conspirarcy theories from the book could not be true yet many people that believe in Christ were fooled. its sad when an atheist was not fooled but the very elect were deceived

I won't be viewing this. Often times, these films sensationalize the real controversy between good and evil.

I agree...mainly maybe most do this?
but not all religious films out of LA are flicks... or even inherently follow the premise of deliberately creating controversy to generate dollars..
it's honestly why I asked....to see if my cynisicism was justified

wow..

all the comments are VERY informative..
those seeing it....as well as those not

I'm leaning toward not seeing it....

I remember the old movies...that drew their text and story from the bible

the Ten Commandments
The Robe....
The Greatest Story ever told
Barrabas
King of Kings

I was interested in seeing it - as Christians we have to stand up for God. Not saying we HAVE to watch it, but it might be good to watch and discuss afterwards? I never read the book, but do have a fasination with angels and demons - mainly because they are so 'unknown' we as Christians need to educate ourselves, so when a non believer says that what we believe in is not true because in Angels and Demons they saw otherwise (just an example)...you can stand up and say, actually it's false, here is what the Bible says. That's my take.

For the purpose of this type of discussion, I would be more prone to read the book

I read the book and it's not even really about angels or demons. That's just the title. I read the Da Vinci Code as well and have to say the movie was disappointing. That makes me reluctant to see this movie now.

I read most of the da vinci code. It created too much anxiety in my soul so I didn't finish it. I do not plan to watch the movie. The book was thought provoking but I do realize that the premise is fiction. The theme centered around the hint that the "christian church" could be doing things or covering up stuff. For the most part I probably will not be watch any movies unless it is an old black and white movie unless it is not then I won't.

I saw The Da Vinci Code. I won't be seeing Angels and Demons. It seems as if Tom Hanks has an agenda, and it isn't Godly at all.

I saw the movie on Saturday night with my husband and it disturbed me greatly. There is one scene is particular where I felt so sick to watch how evil one of the characters was. I do believe that there are certain things the Catholic Church will never disclose to its followers. And that had me thinking quite a bit about why certain facts were hidden. The ending was a shocker to me. One of the characters appeared to be holy but was far from it! However, maybe it's me reading too much into it, but I gathered the ending meant that even if someone sounds good. Look smart. Seems nice. God knows his/her heart and will find a way to reveal this truth to his people.

I've come to the conclusion that I should just stay away from any type of movie like this unless there is someone to explain all of the points to me. I could see myself getting very, very confused.

I saw another movie a few months ago that had many religious undertones and what I took out of the movie is apparently completely different than what I've read on the Internet.

PH - Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the movie.

This is why I won't go and see it. Its enough just trying to get through the day then to have a movie play over and over in my head. I agree its another trap by Satan.

Didn't see the Da Vinci Code or read the book, went to see Angels&Demons today and it SUCKED!

I haven't yet seen the movie, but I have read the book. It is my favorite book by Dan Brown. I can say without a doubt that it has nothing to do with angels OR demons.... it's about Robert Langdon running through Rome saving priests from an organization plotting to destroy the Vatican. As Yahoo Movies says:

In this sequel to the movie version of the wildly popular novel The Da Vinci Code, the world's least-secret secret society has set into motion a dark plan that may destroy the Catholic Church for good. Despite the Church's grudge against Professor Robert Langdon for exposing a massive Vatican cover-up, its leaders must now call upon Langdon to find out what the Illuminati are up to and stop the ticking of a high-tech time bomb that's about to turn the papal conclave into a mini-Armageddon

If I remember correctly, the "massive Vatican cover-up" is the pope having a child. Yes, this can really destroy my faith.

and the reason they titled this is?
for box office draw..
smh

maybe yes...demons..indeed

I don't believe it's a spoiler, but there were statues of angels pointing to the crime scenes.

The movie took place in Rome and Vatican City and you can't turn around without seeing 50 kazillion statutes of so it's worked into the story.

I saw A&D and thought it was tedious. It's a mystery that uses religion as a backdrop.

But it's not a religious movie. :nono: If you went to maybe Yahoo movies or Movie Mom or Movietickets and read the description of the movie, you'd know that.
