Yesterday i just took out my braid extentions ofter 2 months and i thought i'd try out the amla oil that so many of you have been raving about.

I literally saturated my hair with it last night (maybe a bit too much), put my plastic cap on and wrapped a scarf around it, went to bed and when i woke up this morning my hair was sooooo soft - my natural hair loves it :D My hair was baby soft, i took my wide tooth comb to comb it out a bit coz i had a few knots and it was easy peezy y'all.

I really didn't want to wash it out :look: It does have a smell that lingers, and i think someone mentioned it smells like a babies diaper, i kinda get what they're talking about but honestly i didn't think the smell was terrible.

Im all excited because now i want to experiment with it, see how it feels to use on my ends or in a spritz - whichever way pops into my head, but it certainly has been my best pre-poo so far.

Love it, luuuurv it, loving it. :)

Which alma oil did you use? There's an Indian brand called Dabur Alma Oil, and there's a light and dark (heavy) formula. FNWL also sells alma. Where did you get your's from?

I used the Dabur amla oil. It package doesn't say it's the light version so i guess it's the heavy.

I'm happy to hear that your hair loves Amla Oil!

Mine does, too! I use it as a "leave-in" oil, mostly.

If it's dark green, then it's the regular Dabur Amla Oil, which is the one that I use.

Do you put something in it to mask the smell?

i bought the dabur vatika hair oil yesterday and did a pre-poo treatment with it mixed with my AO GBP conditioner for about an hour, then i washed it out with my regular shampoo and conditioner, and i used some of the vatika hair oil as part of my leave-ins as well. my hair was so soft and manageable! very few hairs shed compared to how it's been my last 3-4 washes.

i was VERY impressed.

this one was the coconut hair oil but it has some amla in it.

do they sell the amla one by itself?

have any of u guys used the pure amla? I've used the dabur amla but stopped becauswe it has mainly mineral oil in it. I have the pure one from fnwl, but haven't used it, don't like the smell.... do u guys know if the pire one works the same?

I have that one. I have only used it once. I didn't leave it in that long though. So I really didn't get the softness everyone is talking about but my hair did feel a whole lot stronger. I felt like I had a protein treatment. Next time I will leave it in over night.

I pre poo'ed with it last night as well... I washed it out & did a deep condition with CON conditioner and vatika oil... I'm lovin' my hair!! :D

I loveeee amla oil I'm glad it worked for you I do it the eaxct same way you did it, and when I get up the next day and remove my cap I coat my hair with conditioner before going into the shower and when I get in the shower I rinse it out, my hair feels so strong I don't use any shampoo or anything its like a conditioner wash, its awesome

No, I don't. I'm pretty much in the minority b/c the smell doesn't bother me. :look: It reminds me of Bergamont Hair Grease.

I've only used the Dabur brand Amla Oil. I imagine that the FNWL one works in a similar way. There are some members of LHCF who do/have use(d) it.

That's how the Dabur Amla Oil makes my hair feel... stronger and like I've had a shot of protein.

Maybe I did something wrong but I used the Alma Oil and seemed stronger but did not get that soft feeling - I also used the Alma powder form and it made my hair feel really strong - still no softness and now my hair is shedding alot - not sure what I did wrong - any suggestions
