Am I the only one on here that uses heat on a regular basis?

Hi,

I too must raise my hand and I do actually feel guilty but I HAVE TO USE HEAT!!! I air dry and flat iron my hair 2x a week using my Sedu. What I've realized from this site and many years of trying to figure out my hair is that you have to do what is reasonable for your hair. Some don't need heat, some do. What can you say?

Do anyone have any good suggestions for serums? Nexxus, Keracare or Biosilk? My hairdresser uses Biosilk but I read on this board that it contains alcohol. So who makes the best serum?

Very bad. Alcohol is one of the first 5 ingredients. I use IC Heat Protection Straightening Serum (from Sally's BS). It's a pink bottle.

I don't find using a hooded dryer to dry rollers NEARLY as damaging as using direct heat from a flat-iron or blow dryer...

ok good cause it didnt seem that bad but when i wrote it down I was like.............:(

Yes, I think it does get easier as hair grows longer. I started out at shoulder length and was able to make a tinsy bun and over time as I cut out heat and started treating hair more gently, it grew longer and thicker and I don't "style" it anymore -- heck, I don't even use a comb except for wash days -- just fingercomb and let it hang -- its thickness and length speaks for itself without need for any styling/embellishments. Check out some of the albums with awesome hair who do very very little in terms of "styling" -- adrienne, sylver2, Isis, sherrylove, southerngirl, many many others. . .

The longer and thicker my hair, the less I need to "style" it -- basically I do waaaay less to my hair now then ever before in my life and it's NEVER been this long, thick and healthy before. EVER. Definitely, less is more . . .

ITA...i twist my hair every night thats about it. i dnt use any combs, brushes or finger comb.just twist n clip.

I also like to use heat , once a week the most. For me it's actually better because I get less breakage when my strands are smooth and straight. I can comb it more often. Just make sure to incorporate a good protein conditioner to keep your hair strengthened.

Me Too !!
Also Remember that what works for some doesnt work for others, and as much as I try, a no heat way of life isnt in the cards for me...

My Twist outs, Bantu Knot Sets and Braid Outs, all look sucky if I dont blow dry first... Thats just me tho and Heat just works for me :D

I have to use heat AT LEAST 2 or 3 times a week...otherwise I look like a troll doll. And that can't happen! :lachen:

With all the love and care I've been giving my hair, I don't think the heat is having a bad effect...but I am trying to cut down on it a bit...caruso rollers are my secret weapon!
