Alternative uses for curlformers

Hi ladies,
I just bought curlformers and love them, however I am wondering if anyone is using them for any alternate purposes? For example, since they get my roots straight, unlike regular rollers cuz i'm transitioning, I am thinking about using them to wear my hair straight. I'd like to roll my hair with the big ones, dry, comb out the curls, then wrap my hair. Anyone tried this?

Omg, I wanna know the same thing. I just used curlformers today, and I want to try to wrap my hair and sit under the dryer, but I'm SCURRRED!!! :lachen:Chrissy did you try it???

I'm waiting for you guys to try this. I've also thought it could be an alternative to pressing the hair when you want to wear it straight but I am yet to buy my own Curlformers and give it a shot. So will y'all hurry up and let us know already?! :look:

LOL!! I know right. I'll probably wear it as is today. I'm sure it'll be a MESS in the morning. So, maybe I'll wrap it tomorrow.

I want to straight my hair more often, too. I went ahead and bit the bullet on the price because I was considering paying $120 for a Chi Rocket. So......$60 Curlformers = no direct heat = healthier hair!!! :lachen:

I use the big curlformers to stretch my hair straight for styles that I would blowdry my hair first for like big puffs, twist-outs from stretched hair, and before I get cornrows. I've also done it to skip the blowdry step when im going to flat-iron, I get more body with this method. Im a 4a/b natural head. Since i'm not going to wear the curls in theses cases I dont have to worry to much about how neat or the placement of the rollers and if its for a 'natural' style, I dont even have to let them dry 100%.

Tried it and it didn't work for me. It was too much manipulation but I do use the big shower comb to comb the curls a bit and give me lots of body bouncy curls

ETA: sometimes I start the curlformer further down my hair and flat iron the roots for a different look too.

I tried this after I did a ponytail set with the curlformers. My hair came out huggggge and puffy. It was too difficult to comb/brush out the curls because they were tight. My hair didn't lay flat enough to wrap.I tried some saran wrap to "calm" it but that didn't work either.

I forgot about this thread, but I think its possible with the extra wide curlformers ( pink and yellow), not the wide.

I have used the extra wide & long (pink and yellow ones) to get my hair straight...
I don't like the curls... they don't last...
but I do love curlformers for how straight they get my hair...
I'm natural and no other roller can do this...

Wow. Yeah, I was stalking your blog last night. :lachen:I'll be following your ponytail set method.

Did you just flat iron your curlformer curls to get the final results??

If I want to get it bone straight... I do go over the curlformer set
with my CHI, other times I just do a silk wrap and touch up some
frizzy spots with the CHI. But it's much less flat ironing than I'd
be doing with a regular roller set. Less heat is always good.

So you do your silk wrap (in pincurls instead of wrapped) with the curlformer curls??
