Hi girlies! I wanted to give an update of my roughly 13 week post retouch. This is a looong read lol. This is my first time using the Linange shea butter relaxer and really like it! A lil background: I have 4a/ 4b relaxed hair , almost shoulder length. I stopped going to my stylist after my last retouch in November bc she overprocessed me w a harsh relaxer (I believe it was Design Essentials) and on top of that I was already dealing w residual damage from years of heat damage. I decided to start back doing my own hair & here I am again after several years.
Soooo I stretched my relaxer almost 13 weeks & relaxed yesterday. My last wash was 4 days ago. I pre parted my hair into small sections , used double prong clips to seperate them, & based my scalp w Vitale petroleum. I coated my ends w giovanni smooth as silk conditioner, VIA jojoba oil, & vaseline. I applied the relaxer & about 20 minutes into it my scalp started tingling in the area that I started in. I had 6 minutes left to smooth & I barely got my edges & nape done! Lol. Needless to say I went over my time by a few minutes, so it took me almost 30 minutes to finish applying & smoothing. By the time I went to rinse that lil area was on FYE smh. I rinsed & washed with Mizani phormula 7 neutralizing poo & then isoplus neutralizer. Then washed with Nuexpression moisturizing poo. Dc for 10 min w a mix of nuexpression humective conditioner & olive oil under heating cap. Right before rinsing the conditioner I applied French stabilizer on top for 2 minutes. Then rinsed it all out. I did a partially airdried ponytail rollerset & a light trim.
I have a couple scabs now today & the a few hairs in that area look "melted" together( it sounds worse than it looks). I've been dabbing a mix of tea tree /lavender/chamomile oil on it & its really helping ( if you ever have chemical burn do NOT use aloe Vera gel or vinegar! Made it burn like hell ). I know not to pick it or anything. Im actually gonna push my 1st wash out a lil further to give my scalp in that section time to heal. Probably just co wash in the meantime. Overall I had a great experience w this relaxer, even though I underestimated its strength. It got me the perfect "straightness" that I wanted. Im not bone straight but not underprocessed /texlaxed. My hair isn't limp it feels smooth, strong & soft & I haven't had shedding so far. Next time I will do the half & half method to give myself time to smooth each section properly & avoid burning
