7 months of ULTRA COARSE 4a/4b newgrowth

:)

My last relaxer was JUNE 18, 2008.

My hair type is definitely coarse, it took a super relaxer for the full processing time to get it to this point. It's hard to get my hair to absorb anything... including moisture and conditioners. The strands are thick and wiry.

My hair type is definitely 4a/4b. Cottony, tightly coiled, penspring/coffee stirrer sized.

I dunno, I just felt like posting because I see that some relaxed heads and transitioners struggling with their new texture. Someone posted that they have a little fro under their hair, someone posted that their scalp can't breathe because of their new growth. Maybe seeing the pics will help someone else.

This is from yesterday. 7 months post... about 2.75 in of newgrowth (hair has been growing in slow :()

Anyways... here are the pics. No heat applied, just a braidout. The braidout stretches the roots. I can also do a rollerset to stretch the roots if I'm going for a straight look. It gets even straighter with a rollerset. If I can make THIS TYPE of hair manageable, anyone can :yep: You don't have to walk around with an ultra compact, air blocking, shrunken fro underneath the rest of your hair. Stretch it out for the love of kink!

Now for the pics...

My transition is going well. I can't wait to be fully natural. Hopefully 2009 will bring more of the same and MORE GROWTH!

Your hair is growing beautifully Neith!!! I like it a lot.

I sometimes feel it's hard to manage my relaxed bone straight hair, my new texlaxed looser starnds, and my NG at once.

Braidouts help a lot; just like your picture proves!!!

Beautiful new growth. Have you tried mixing olive oil and coconut oil together. I was really suprised when I oiled my new growth with this overnight and how manageable it was the next day. I dunno just a suggestion.

This is a really great post!

Thank you! :)

Yeah, different textures can be a handful if you are not careful. I didn't know you had 3 textures

I just think it's much easier if transitioners/stretchers gently stretch the new growth out.

Even though it looks like it "blends" my two textures are completely different. My newgrowth is of course, much more kinky/coily and coarse than the texlaxed hair.

I feel that I could maintain my hair like this indefinitely. I'm on hair growing auto pilot right now, lol.

I never tried that, but it sounds like it could work :yep: I use jojoba oil and leave in almost daily though.

Great post Neith!

I didnt know you were transitioning. Thats great!!!

Yep, it's been a while. It's going to be a long transition though. :yep: I'm not BC'ing in 2009 for sure.
