I finally took out my braids- the new pics are in my album.
It's settled- never, ever again will I put in human hair braids. Ever. Grrrrrr. It took me 3 days to get them all out and detangle (okay, I wasn't working nonstop but still). My hair wasn't as dry as with the fake hair but I had to cut (!) some of the braids out at the ends because the ends on my hair fused together into a dred. Which really hurt my feelings. Beyond that I had really really bad tangles and despite my efforts, there was broken hair all over my bathroom- sigh. Thankfully, my hair is still thick and with the exception of my pitifully uneven ends doesn't seem too ravaged. But not to dwell- just a word to the wise to anyone with long natural hair thinking that human hair pseudo microbraids are the ticket- my experience was less than ideal.
Anyways, once I got those suckers out I washed, put in a sebastian's colourshine (brilliant brown- though it should be named jet black), conditioned with kerafix for 30 minutes under the dryer and then for another 30 minutes with a mix of humecto and rene furterfer conditioning creme. After I rinsed out the conditioner, I brushed with a denman and braided my hair. I maxiglided this evening on 4 (super low for me) and I think I'm going to have to do something else because I wanted my hair to be sleek and not so diana ross. Despite the puffiness, I'm happy with it, my hair feels really soft now. I'm not sure if it's grown much but I think I can claim brastrap even after I trim and it definately feels so much better than it did this time last year- and I have this board to thank for that. You guys are the best!
