Hey Ladies,
Last week I reached my 18th month without a relaxer!!! I'm still transitioning, but I'm definitely getting the itch to chop. Maybe by spring...

I've updated my fotki album, take a look-see if you'd like. :-)

Btwn you and Carefree, I would love to be natural w/a head of hair like that. It's thick, full, and the waves are beautiful. ;)

Thanks everyone!

Alli: It got so much easier for me after the first six or so months. Right now I'm so lazy, it takes very little effort to deal with my hair. Good luck with your transition.

mkstar and Carefree: You both have the most beautiful hair. I've been stalking your albums for forever; looking for and finding plenty of inspiration to go natural.

edited for clarity

Your hair is certainly an inspiration! A couple more months and you'll be at waistlength.

What I find amazing about your hair is that your permed ends don't seem to have suffered at all during your transition. Do you do protective styles? Have you been trimming the ends? Also, how often do you flat iron (maxiglide?) and do you use a heat protectant, if so, what?

Sorry for all the questions, but I've been in a funk about my transition (8 months) and your progress is very inspiring.

lovelymissyoli: I definitely have alot going on with my hair. The front and sides look 4b. The top is fuzzy and super soft. The crown and back have little coilies, and part of the nape has a few wiry curls.
Your new growth is so pretty. Parts of my hair look just like that.

JCoily: I'm so excited, this is the longest my hair has ever been.
I keep my hair pulled back a lot. Last year I wore a bun most of the time. Now I vary more; sometimes ponytails or braided ponytails, so long as I keep my hair clear of my shirts.
I dust my ends every two to four months. This is usually the only time I blow dry or flat iron it. I've also been trying rollersetting, flexi rods and bantu sets as methods for wearing my hair out. I use the IC heat protector and Elasta QP Silk. I've kinda given up on wearing my hair really straight. I'm too lazy to put in the work and I'm scared of damaging my natural hair.

Don't get too down about transitioning. I went through a period where I hated my hair. But now I'm enjoying the process and I'm really excited about my natural hair. Best of luck!

Carlie: Thanks. I love your hair, its very pretty.
