If yall got the common cd you know the rest of the words. I self relaxed last night and I am still doing my victory dance   :bdance:

I had keep complaining about how I needed to relax and my bf was like just make an appointment and I'll give you the money on friday. But I was thinking I pay 40-60 bucks for a relaxer and if I get one every two months, then that is 6 times a year with is 360 dollars a year for something I honest think I can do just as good if not better myself. He gives me the funniest look and then says " well go ahead and buy the stuff you need and do it yourself, I'll still give you the money friday if you mess up". I was like thanks for the vote of confidence but I needed him to doubt me so I could prove him wrong. He said that doing it yourself causes more damage but I just said that I pay money for someone to burn me up half the time and I do that myself for half the price.

I went to sallys and bought some silk elements regular formula, motions neutralizing chamomile conditioner, bigger rollers and pins. I printed out southerngirls self relaxing instructions and followed them step by step. The only difference was that I use motions neutralizing conditioner and did the front part first, then the back part. I must say that motions stuff WORKS! It smells like fruit and soothes the scalp. You are supposed to put it on after you rinse the relaxer and leave it in for 10 minutes. Then you shampoo it out and follow with your regular deep conditioner. Using conditioner right after you rinse out relaxer makes such a difference. I don't think my hair has ever been this soft after a relaxer. Silk Elements is the TRUTH!!! No funny smell, went on smooth and I got straight really quick. I have 4a/b hair and I think I might have to get the mild next time. The lady at sallys said that a hairdresser you orders tubs of relaxer from them for her shop (which isn't that far from my apartment) stopped using mizani and relvon and started using silk elements. I think I am going to look her up ;) I conditioned with my phyto conditioner for another 30 mintues and then rolled it up on some big rollers and this morning I have a beautiful round fluffy bob that ...drumroll please... is just 1 inch from my shoulders. :D If any of you remember my post earlier on this summer you remember how I had to cut my hair to my ears after a dye disaster and now I know I will be right at shoulder length before the end of the year. Needless to say my bf shut up. He can't keep his hands out of it. I can't wait for another two months to go by so I can do it again. I am so glad I have you ladies as a resource because I could not have done it without all the info I have plastered up in my bathroom. Next time the only thing I will do is to base my scalp better because when you do one half and rinse, you are bound to get that line of scalp wet. I think I will relax the front and stick a shower cap over the back and just pin it to stay right at that line. I really enjoyed the silk elements relaxer but I have been eyeing that elucence one so I don't know what I am going to use next time but I am glad that I now have the choice to try whatever I want because I can do it myself;) :yay:

Girl you sound like me, that is exactly what I did about a month and a half ago. I don't think I will ever go back to a hair stylist. Good Job!!!:D

And props for the self-relaxing. I believe I will continue on this roll. It's funny: I have someone I can trust to care and maintain my hair, another one that I can trust to cut it, but I have yet to find someone who I can trust to relax it.

You are so right. There is a lady I go to when my sets need to be on point. I got a lady at supercuts that actually TRIMS but when it come to relaxers, its all me. *sidebar* I love that song, its on my morning mix to motivate me to wake up and get to school
