Ah well I didn\'t make it to 6 months....

But I made it past 4 without a touch up. I will be doing a touch up this weekend, so that's nearly 4.5 months. Pretty good for me and I can see my hair health improving by stretching them out to only 3 every single year.

Good Luck to those still stretching their relaxers.

Re: Ah well I didn\'t make it to 6 months....

Thats still good /images/graemlins/clap.gif Can you please tell me how you made it that far... I can't make it past 9 wks /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: Ah well I didn\'t make it to 6 months....

Hey, that's no mean feat! /images/graemlins/clap.gif Congrats! I am hoping that I will make it to 3-4 months! My last touch-up was 8/21.

Re: Ah well I didn\'t make it to 6 months....

Sounds great. /images/graemlins/up.gif I'm sure you have A LOT of newgrowth and that you'll be happy w. your new length after your touchup. /images/graemlins/grin.gif I've decided to stretch mine to about 4 mths this time as well.

Denali

I was worse that 9weeks, just check my signature to see the dates this year so far.

What helped tremendously was my cermaic iron. For the first 6 weeks or so I'd conditioner wash daily and then once a week detangle with my fingers. A caomb was hardly used during this time only to comb through once straightened. When it got to the point where the NG was getting real thick was when the ceramic iron came out. That was my saving grace, once a week after washing. I'll be honest the smoothest press I got was when I had nothing in my hair but water. It was so smooth, silky and straight. You couldn't even tell I was 3 months post relaxer.

Re: Ah well I didn\'t make it to 6 months....

hey LD....i am glad the health of your hair is improving........!!!!!!!!!

take care...

Re: Ah well I didn\'t make it to 6 months....

I'm at the 10 week mark and I just took my sewn in out and I didn't detangle good enough after I took down my cornrows and my hair was matted after I washed it /images/graemlins/perplexed.gif, I took out so much of my hair, I'm scared to straighten it and see how much I lost /images/graemlins/wallbash.gif

Thanks /images/graemlins/grin.gif Any noticable benefits from stretching it out

Re: Ah well I didn\'t make it to 6 months....

LondonDiva, since you used the ceramic iron once per week, does that mean that in the later weeks you were only washing your hair once per week? If not, what did you do when you weren't pressing the new growth? TIA /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Ah well I didn\'t make it to 6 months....

/images/graemlins/grin.gifIt's allright! It's okay! We will love you anyway! /images/graemlins/kisses.gif

Look at it this way...as you hair gets longer, the easier it will be to extend your relaxer touch-up even more! So maybe next time you will be able to stretch it for 6 months. I hope you are happy with your growth results that you see after relaxing your hair. Good luck in the future. /images/graemlins/bdance.gif

Yes my sweet, I've given my baby hairs at the front a chance to sprout. The area which is the finest started getting little coils. When you relax more frequently you don't give other slow growing areas a chance to grow, which then cause the overprocessing. This also applies to the nape and back area which grows in the fastest. It seems thicker than usual, but I guess 4.5 months of regrowth ain't exactly thin. But I've got less chance of over processing than if I was every 6 weeks.

Yes and this is what I didn't like, because I like to surge and wash daily. I couldn't have any water based product touching my hair because it would frizz right back up and tangle. I would apply the Nexxus Biotin creme but couldn't do it everyday due to build up, so I had to rely on my diet to give me an extra growth boost, which my Surge would normally give me. Sometimes I would surge 2-3 days before a hair wash, as I really didn't care what it looked like, just as long as it could pass for remotely decent swept back with some scrunchies. I ended up washing once a week for about half of that 4 months, the press would last me a whole week.

Keep it up Kaddy it WILL be worth it.

One thing I will say Work WITH the two textures, not AGAINST them and you'll be able to maintain all of the new growth.

The minute you get a comb and try to comb through them, that's when the trouble starts.

Here's my advice, you got tangles, get a movie sit down and take your time getting them all out, don't yank and get frustrated and also don't look in the mirror and detangle, it's much easier to feel and remove it without looking. When you are looking in the mirror and detangling you end up getting more frustrated and it's not relaxing either. At least with a movie and a couple of snacks you can get a lenghty tiresome task done with so much ease.

It's getting there. I'm a perfectionist to the extreme and everytime I feel ready to get myself together and put up an album, I think not now next touch up time. I will at some point, gotta get a digi camera and my laptop fixed. I'm always here when at work.

Thanks for the advice. I kind of did something similar last night. I was watching the model show and I applied a little HHB massaged my scalp while that was on and then sprayed a little Elasta H-Two on my hair and smoothed back and put on my scarf. I definitely do NOT try to comb it...

Thanks again

Re: Ah well I didn\'t make it to 6 months....

/images/graemlins/wave.gif Yes I will be. /images/graemlins/smile.gif As I've always done. I've NEVER been to a salon for a chemical treatment and never will. I've only ever been for weaves and braids back in the day. If anyone's going to jack up my hair it will be me and for free.

Re: Ah well I didn\'t make it to 6 months....

If I can get to 4, I'm going to be /images/graemlins/dance7.gif, so congrats /images/graemlins/smile.gif!

Re: Ah well I didn\'t make it to 6 months....
