After Almost 4 Years of being a LHCF leach, I'm an offical member!

Hello everyone! :waves:

I have been natural for almost 4 years and from the beginning I have been borrowed techniques from members. My last perm (January of 2005) left my already stringy and damaged hair even worse. Most of the hair at the nape of my neck had fallen out and I had painful sores all around my scalp from chemical burns.

Early Feb. of 2005 with my thin scraggly hair

October 2005 (after the back started to grow out a little):

After I discovered the LHCF, my hair slowly started to improve. I wore extension braids in my hair for a year and by May of 2006 I cut of my permed ends and ended up with:
(June 2006, twist-out with ORS Olive Oil Moisturizer)

(late July 2006, really ugly picture of me!)

For the next year I moisturized, moisturized, MOISTURIZED w/ Jamaican Mango and Lime Cactus Leave-in Moisturizer, SCurl moisturizer, Sta Sof Afro Spray and occasionally World of Curls.

I have to thank everyone here at the LHCF for teaching me how to properly care for my hair!

Girl, why did you ever even get a relaxer? Your natural hair is GORGEOUS!!! Congratulations on the vast improvement!! :yay:

Thank you so much!

I got a relaxer by accident. In the Fall of 2003 I went natural, but my hair was severely damaged from my mother's hairdresser friend flat ironing my hair. I went to my a salon that someone recommended and the hairdresser told me that he didn't "deal" with natural hair and urged me to relax. I argued that i just wanted a trim and after 45 mins we came to an agreement to texturize my hair. He end up perming it anyways. I would have let my hair grow back natural, but my the new growth would make my scalp itch so bad that the only way I could relieve the itch was to get a touch up.

Welcome!

Pretty hair!

Some of you naturals make me want to transition but I don't have the guts to BC, lol.

Welcome! :)

There is a distinct difference in your hair texture between the "ugly" pic and the "moisturized, moisturized, moisturized" pic. Do you think that your curls became more defined because of all the moisturizing that you did?

Beautiful hair. Welcome to the forum. You knew it was coming.... What is your regimen?

I wash 1x-2x times a week; sometimes cowash, sometimes shampoo and wash. I can be a really grease ball with with my moisturizers sometimes :lachen:.

I mainly use Jamaican Mango and Lime Leave-in Moisturizer, Coconut Oil, some of my Soulmate's hair butter which makes my hair feel so soft all day.

And what is in this butter...:sekret:?

The ugly picture, I combed my hair after washing, much like in my signature pic. The weight of my hair as it gets longer prevents me from doing a more rounded shape :(.
In the other pictures I let my wet hair dry with moisturizers and/or World of Curls curl activator on occasion. On my hair it makes the curls POP! The Feb. 2008 picture I just did a placenta treatment on my hair which made my curls POPPED even more! The picture w/ my twa that was a twist out with ORS Olive Oil Hair Moisturizer.
