After a 3 yr hiatus from hair salons I found one...

who is THE BOMB! First, my last stylist used to keep my in the damn salon for ATLEAST 3-4 hours on average just to get a wash and curl...well, ladies, my new best friend had me finished in 45 minutes and my hair is GORGEOUS! Best of all, she listened to everything I said. I told her that I'm paranoid of stylists and although I really need a trim, I'm scared of being butchered. I told her that I haven't blow dried or brushed my hair in a year, I only comb it once a week and that I think I have the finest hair on earth - and this is what she did. She gently washed my hair with Joico volumizing shampoo and conditioned it with the moisture conditioner. (I told her I had given myself a protein deep conditioner last night in preparation for my visit). Then, this is the part that made me want to cry tears of joy - she blow dried my hair and combed it with her fingers! Once I was almost completely dry, she used a paddle brush to smooth my hair out with one pass - then she flat ironed with a nice paul mitchell ceramic iron - THEN SHE TRIMMED! Every stylist that I've ever been too always cut my hair right after blow drying it when it was at it's bushiest and it was easy to mistake those bushy ends for damaged ends. Not this one, she flat ironed my hair in record time, then trimmed about a 1/4 of inch. My co-worker, who introduced me to this lovely young lady, was speechless! She said "your hair is longer than mine!?" I always wore my hair in an air dried bun, so I didn't even know how long my hair was. I knew it was approaching mid back, but never really saw it in it's straightened form. I was so excited to see what all my hard work and sacrifice actually looked like! I told her that I wanted to be wl by my wedding in May and she told me that was totally achievable if I keep at my very simple regimen.

Oh and ladies...she actually told me that since my hair is so fine, she'll TEXLAX my hair when it's time for my next relaxer...actually used those words! I proposed life long hair marriage to her! Anyway, now that my fiance is home, I'm off to get him to take a pic so you guys can see my joy - I was so excited, I had to come post it first.

BRB:grin:

:dance7:Girl, I am SO HAPPY for you! You'll notice that after relocating 6 years ago....I too finally found a stylist I CAN talk to about my hair goals and regimen! GOOD 4 U! :bouncy:

Yes, finding a good stylist is so important. My perfect texlax was just ruined by a stylist who decided that she didn't need to listen to me(and irony of ironies, she has a natural-the 2nd time a chick with a natural acted like my texlax was somehow garbage)...a year's worth or progess was totally ruined and I hate the results.
So please do share the name and city of your stylist if you can...it's so important to have someone who shares your hair philosophy.

The stylist name is Lachette and she works in Columbia, MD. The salon is called George of NY. She's the only black stylist in there, so you can't miss her. Here's the website http://www.georgeofnewyork.com/default.asp . Don't go by the pics on the site cause most of the clientele is white and I was the only sistah in there, but SHE is heaven sent. She had a really nice phoney pony on, so I couldn't see if her hair was natural or not, but the LOOK of her real hair was natural - but I could be wrong.

I'm still waiting to take the pic - my fiance ran to the grocery store so he could cook dinner tonight (that's why we proposed life long marriage to each other:yep:) So as soon as we're done with dinner, I PROMISE to post a pic for you guys to see.

Im glad you found a stylist you liked! Hopefully she continues giving you the same quality because what Ive found is nothing is ever as good as the first time. :ohwell:

I know what you mean, I found that out after 5 years with my last stylist. But atleast, if only temporarily, I'm happy with this chick. Even if I only go to her every 6 mos for a trim, the fact that I was in and out within the same hour with most of my hair made me the happiest customer.
