Afro Detangler users... I received mine today but have some concerns...

The directions say to use it three times in order for the product to work? Is this true?

Also, I don't wear locks or braids but if any of you semi-natural or relaxed ladies use AD, how do you use it?

Another thing, the bottle looks bigger on-line. If we have to use this three times every time we use it (I wash once a week), it's not going to last long.

It was aight, mine really didn't have any directions on it other than that it could be used on both wet or dry hair. If you find out the exact directions let me know, maybe i wasn't using it enough to get good results. Cus to me it was just an ok product nothing spectacular.

I agree with neish! it was alright and I am glad I bought a small sample from a member before I spent any money! Maybe you could email her because I guess that is how she keep getting her money because you use it up so Fast LOL!!!! Just Kidding!

Blossssom, I bought this awhile back and I did not like it. It was just okay. So many other products seem to do a much better job IMO.

Seems to me like you shouldn't have to use a detangler 3 times just to get it to work. Is Afro Detangler just a detangler or is it supposed to do more than that?

That's what I was thinking. Detangling three times after shampooing is going to take up most of the day

My AD came with these directions:

"Apply to sections of 5-6 braids or twists of dry coarse hair. The hair can be damp or dry. Wait 2-3 minutes to allow saturation. Take down braids/twists and comb through. A second time, apply the AD, plait the hair again in braids or twists. When the AD dries, take down and apply a third time. Allow the hair to dry in your braids or twists.

By this time the AD has penetrated the hair shaft. The oils will have soaked in. The hair will have a balanced feel and proper ph. You may need less of the application with each use since your hair will be more manageable."

Now, doesn't that sound like a LOT OF WORK!? I'm accustomed to applying the leave-in with my hair LOOSE, saturating in a baggy while I do my face and body regimen, and then combing out, styling as usual.

I don't have time to be braiding/twisting hair two and three times; waiting for the AD to dry between each braid/twist out... uh uh

I think I'm going to mix this with my Mane ' Tail Detangler and call it a day

I had no idea so much went into trying to detangle a nappy head

Please, no one tell Al Sharpton I said that. Ha!

I've heard it's a good product, but I wonder if it works differently/better if you follow her instructions exactly. I'm sure there have to be other members who've tried the detangler without applying it 3 times first.

i have been using it for almost a year and never have done it. I just apply it and proceed to comb it out...... I also dont leave it on i rinse it out after i am done because if i dont my hair feels really nasty

I'm hoping for more feedback, but I'm also going to "google" the other AD threads and see if the answers somewhere lie within.

I know I don't have time to apply anything three times and wait for it to dry.

Are you serious!? Oh God! I am going to mix this with my "Tail". I don't have time, either, to apply a leave-in only to rinse it out. I have my regular conditioner for that!

I will say that the consistency of the AD is similar to that of Biolage's Daily Leave-In Tonic, which I have mixed with more liquid-ty detanglers such as "Tail". I'm sure that will work just fine.

Googling the other AD threads will provide some answers... I hope. So many women were praising it.

You all will be advised if it's a "hit or miss"... for me anyway... for others, it seems to have been a "hit" which is why I purchased it.

Look for an update on Saturday/Sunday.

I have been using this for almost two years and I have never had those instructions and have never seen them before.

I have naturally kinky, coily hair and when I wash it I apply this and do my styles.

I only put this in my hair once or anytime I am dealing with my ends and have to comb them, I also leave it in my hair.

Never did this three times and don't plan on it. I like my hair but it ain't that deep! Ya know!

If she has changed the ingredients where this is recommended then I may have to rethink using this product, I have never used any product like that before.

Your post is what I was looking for. No one on any of the other AD threads (that I can remember) mentioned three applications.

Nothing will ever be that serious. I have other things to do. Like leave the house.
