Advice On Hair Styling

Please tell me the secret. How in the world do you style the back of your head if you can't see it? Does a rattail comb help a lot? I see some people use mirrors. My mom styles her hair in the back without a mirror and her parts are not crooked!! My parts are always crooked. In the front look great but the back looks like...no comment. Do you just feel it out or something???

The act of doing/styling your hair often helps you to just get a feel for your head.

I find a rat tail comb does help to get straight parts easier than using the teeth of a comb, however before I got one of those, I became dexterous with the two mirror technique. I make sure I am comfortable and sitting down in front of the mirror. Then as I am styling, just pick up the handheld mirror to look as and when needed.

I put the end of the rattail comb at the place where I want to start. I place a finger at the place I want to end. I then aim the comb towards that finger and make sure I don't lift the comb. If I lift the comb I start over. If I'm not making a super long part. I place my middle finger where I want to start and my thumb where I want to end and I run the comb from middle finger to thumb. It works the majority of the time.

For most styles. If I really have to have a straighter part then I use a mirror.

I am used to doing my hair and part the sections using my fingers. I haven't ever had an issue. I "can feel" if my part is straight or not. The more you style your hair, the more you get used to it.
That probably doesn't help, but it's just my 2 cents
