Advice from a hairdresser....

Stormy I am speechless after reading your post. Well maybe not! What took you so long to realize this stylist was no good for you? She sounds like a con artist who was just out to get your money. And the every 4 week relaxer thing or your hair will break. OMG! that was definitely a scam. The makers of this stuff recommend a relaxer every 6-8 weeks and to me I think that is too soon. And she wouldn't do your relaxer unless you got a trim. No wonder you hair was at a standstill. She was cutting off all of you length! I could go on and on. This kind of stuff just makes me so angry.

It is a good thing you finally woke up and realized that she was doing you hair more harm than good!

Kudos to doing your hair yourself, that's the only way we are going to be able to hold on to our crowning glory!

A stylist I went to for long time told me that only 1 TBS of conditioner is needed for a deep conditioning treatment. I used to wonder why I always needed more to cover my hair completely when I did it at home.

When I moved and started going to another salon, my new stylist could barely contain her laughter when she told me that the other lady was probably not covering all of my hair either--she was just being stingy with her products. And judging by the condition my hair was in, she said the conditioner was probably diluted.
