Wow her regimen is crazy. I'm too lazy for that. I don't think the amount of MSM is wild. I've heard people taking 30,000 MSM. I just think it depends on how much your body is taking in and how youre taking it in.

She did get some amazing growth in 1 year. She went from a twa to shoulder length I think. She said in a later update that she stopped taking all the vitamins.

Most people who responded in another recent thread went from a TWA to SL in about a year too.

But still I do think it's funny how some swear up & down that their Asian friends get 2 inches in a month or go from SL to WL in 6 months with no effort and no one bats an eye, yet it's always so hard to believe that one of us could do it with growth aids, healthy living, clean eating and/or vitamins. :ohwell:

Wow, I believe this is possible..all that plus the high protein diet you certaintly will receive good results. I did high protein for a month straight and got over an inch of growth and yes I have proof but I am not in the proving mood today:lachen:

She did have proof in her fotki. She may have taken them down now.

She took them down?? I just saw the pics the other day. Yeah I was fotki stalking:look:

right..

She had pics in her fotki 6 months after she BC and she had at least 5 inches of growth. I am skeptical about things like this too but she did have proof:yep: She made lots of threads about her progress. Her hair grew very fast. She's one of my hair idols!!

I wouldnt take that many vits a day. But I'm all for healthy diet and KISS.

I totally agree with you on that because they do take care of their hair in terms of using expensive line conditioners to help their hair and doing others stuff--I remember when I was in school--one of my friends was telling me that she was planning to use certain conditioners to help improve her hair quality and advice from a hairdresser. So, I don't believe that it is true--also, they still watch their diet.

It is certainly very possible, Chinese, Japanese tend to have very strong hair, Chinese and Japanese eat a lot of protein, chicken, pork, seaweed, eggs, tofu, amino acids sauces, nuts, particularly carshew nuts, soya, beans and lot of fish. Protein is very important for the hair, people fail to realise that to grow your hair long, you have to look after it, care for it and give your body the best nutrients, quality shampoos like made with shea butter, olive oil, avocado oil, glycerine are very moisturising and you will get your results. Two inches a month that is excellent, I am very pleased for her from her results, I am eating eggs, nuts, raisons, so I hope to increase my hair growth rate also.

Oh yes she did have proof ..I too stalker her album for may months ...You have to be extremely dedicated to do what she did ..All I can say is "POWER TO THE SISTER " for going after what she wanted with a vengeance..NOW THAT'S PASSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tbh, I don't even believe it when people say their Asian/Indian/ANYONERACETHATISNOTBLACK friend grew 2 inches a month. I just do not. I mean, I am sure it happens in rare cases, but I have never seen anyone's hair grow that fast.

I agree with the importance of high protein diets. I've always had a high protein diet, and while I've never seen any length from it, I must say my hair has been able to stand up to a lot.

Thanks Lupus is a BEYATCH and I get so sick of it. And there is not fund rasiers like Cancer it is like the Orphan disease

I take approx 8 different vits per day PLUS msm, flax seed oil, green vibrance and i've recently added acai. :giggle: My body has never been healthier and my hair is growing nicely:)

You have to get the right mix of vits for your own body. It just so happens that all of the vits i take for lupus are excellent for the hair :yep:

ETA - Garlic and Taurine are 2 other pills I take.

PM if you want me vitamin regimen :)

With all due respect, I saw Ekomba's hair grow from nothing to a little past shoulder length or full shoulder length which was praiseworthy and mind-blowing. (I would like to point out here that when we talk of SL here, we usually refer to the hair at the nape reaching shoulders or the hair behind the ears reaching shoulders, not the hair from the crown reaching shoulders as the image below shows. Some people do get a blunt cut and only claim those lengths when the crown hairs make it there, but this is rare on this forum). So when you look at this image, notice what that 12 inches--which is shoulder or so in the image--is measured from the crown and don't let that confuse you. Instead, imagine the ruler moving down so we measure it from the nape. Then you will see why I challenge this 2 inches a month progress. Heck, even if we ignore those details of where the measuring is started (nape or crown) 24 inches a year is a bit of a stretch. Let's see why (below):
growthchart.jpg

Two inches a month would have taken her from almost zero TWA to butt or knee length in ONE YEAR depending on how tall she is, and measuring the LHCF way. Referring to the above diagram and estimating the lady's nape to be at the 8-inch mark, then at 2 inches a month, her nape hair would be at the 20-inch mark level in half a year. Not something I witnessed in the year (let alone 6 months) or so I followed her growth, and trust me I looked coz I was excited to see her go from nothing to some beautiful, thick hair and wanted to see another Adrienne0914 story on the forum for inspiration's sake. (No, Adrienne didn't grow 2 inches a month, but she went from shoulder to waist. I don't care how long it took and I don't even know. All I know is one minute I was oohing about her almost BSL or BSL hair and the next time I looked, my idol had hair to her waist :notworthy )

As I stated the other day, I am beginning to believe that getting 2 inches a month isn't how long hair grows to lengths that stop traffic. After hearing the rates of some of the long-haired ladies on this forum to be around 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch a month, I am thinking that's what I should aim for. (I wonder if that's Adrienne's rate? :scratchch ) Y'all can strive for your two inches a month...you blinking hares. :giggle: I'll hang out with the tortoises on a leisurely walk to the finish line.

I remember the Asian thread. And nobody in that thread said they saw someone go from SL to WL in six months or 2 inches in a month. The one poster who said something close to that about her white/japanese friend has not posted in this thread.

So... Who are the people swearing up and down that their Asian friend grew 2 inches of hair in a month? Because they sure haven't posted in this one.

The Thread:
http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=120748

I personally have never seen anyone grow 2 inches in a month, and I know some fast growers of all races. Oh well, call me a skeptic...

ETA:
Ekomba said she grew 6 inches of hair in 4 months. So I recommend that everyone who uses growth aids STOP... and follow her method. Seriously, what do you have to lose...

Hey Amorette, my hair is 8.5" the back grows faster. i started shaved bald head 7 months ago. I m natural 4b . my regular growth rate without vits is 1/4" mo. i started the first 2 months with just vits and hi protein diet and got 1"per mo. then incorporated mtg 2 months later and when i started using it straight daily with baggy method and my vits i jumped to 2" inch per month for the 2 months then i run out and did not use mtg for 2-3months ( i had too many meetings i could not go with a greasy smelly head ) and now since feb 21 i m back to the mtg. So i already made 8.5inch so far and my first anniversary one year will be in 4 months i m trying to maximize the growth.

Real talk. I'm about to just allow my hair to grow naturally. No more growth aides. Too much work.

Which i thought was a waste because your body is gonna reject what cant be absorbed and you'll urinate the rest out.

So although you take 12,000 MG, your body may only absorb 2000mg.

I did a search and I couldn't find any proof of this. :perplexed Source please

In fact, it's recommended to go as high as 20,000. :yep: (i don't take that much tho... I take about 7,000mg every other day). :D

ETA - I will respond to pms when I get home from work. I haven't forgotten - it's just that i work the graveyard shift...

I just wanted to say you are totally my vitamin idol. When you gave me your list I took it to my doctor and he was all for it...he just tailored it to me. Thanks again!

wow, you have a good doctor!! My docs don't want to hear anything about my vits. :(. They're always pushing meds on me which I refuse to take, mostly... I should change docs but I guess I'm used to them and I'm too lazy to find replacements. :perplexed:look:

It would be nice having a doctor that knows lupus and who's into vits. You're lucky :)

I took a chance when I began my vitamin regimen. I looked up lupus in one of those vits/health books at Whole Foods and went to town purchasing almost everything the book recommended. I've even added on a few from other sources. :yep:

I'm glad I was able to help.

I'm totally missing how your response related to my statement. She did have pics in her fotki, they may still be there. I just know that she did indeed grow what she said she did.

Unless I got lost in the discussion, Msa I believe was stating that there was no evidence of two inches a month anywhere. Your response to that statement was that it was in her album and so I was just setting the record straight that while there was good progress in the said album, it was by no means 2 inches a month.

You know what?
you said exactly what i wanted to say, but if i said it? It would come out very snarky, lol

I believe that people have to find the right vitamin and protein intake for *their* bodies, (whatever their body needs at that moment in time)

and your hair proves that what you're doing is working just fine! (better than fine!)

Yea, I think she was doing way too much just for hair, I mean I love my hair......but my health is more serious, and doing all that cuz you want your hair to grow, shows that there is a problem with having patience, long hair will come, BUT if anyone wants to try it, go right ahead, but that's just way to much for me, I started getting dizzy after reading that....
