. The Registered Nurse informed me DO NOT USE NEOSPORIN OR ANY OILS ON THE BURNS BECAUSE THIS WILL MAKE THE BURNS WORSE!

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't believe that. I've used Neosporin on my scalp many times and it's never made it worse. If her burns are REALLY bad though, maybe it is best not to use it.

Lindy, the Registered Nurse may have been wrong but I wasn't going to take any chances. Besides, your burns may not have been as bad as mine, it's hard to tell on the internet, you know? But the on-call doc said silvadene, which is what I had been advised to use instead, is what physicians use for burns.

UPDATE

She found Neosporin that has Vitamin E in it and put that on yesterday and twice today she said the ooze stopped and it's begining to scab up.

She said to say thanks to everybody and that she'll never do that again...

I'll keep you posted as to any hairloss

I'm glad to read this update. Please, please remind your daughter not to pick off the scab. If she does and it hasn't heal she be back to square 1 with the increase risk of infection all over again.
