Not hating, but most respondents appear to be my daughter's age! Would love for the more "experienced" members to chime in and let's talk about some of the different challenges we are encountering...like tough grey hair that really puts up a fight.

Would to know how many are natural vs relaxed? Are you concerned by thinning? Do you color? Are you a product junkie?

Hey Ebonybee

I am in my early 40's. I use Natural Instincts to wash out the grey :). I tried to overlook the grey patch coming in, but uhm, ain't ready yet so I colored it again in October (dark brown/black)!

I am Natural 4 a/b--trying to or experimenting with pressing my hair - still reverts after 1-2 days (mainly 1) LOL. Not a product junkie, but I read about others experiences on the site all the time. Hair grows real, real slow but glad to have hair at this point :look:.

What's your situation :)?

I've been natural for nearly 20 years. While in military, living in Germany and Japan, I found it easier and cheaper to wear small afro. I'm a 4 something that rollersets. I also color and have had disasterous results...drying and brittle hair. I was wearing a wash and go style and wasn't doing a very good job conditioning and moisturizing!
I rollerset every week. salon one week, me one week. I do my own deep conditioning and is a big fan of Mizani H20 nightime moisturizer!

I'm in my late 50's, and a late starting PJ :lachen:. I"m relaxed and use a Natural color henna to condition and color my gray a copper color, which I really like. I haven't had a problem with thinning.....yet:nono:.

I'm 48, and denying every bit of it!!!! I'm relaxed and I use henna at least 2 times a month, so I never see any grey hair. My nutrition regimen keeps my hair growing beautifully, and I'm training for a marathon next year, so my hair thinks it belongs to a 30-something-year-old!!! Heck, I plan to be running in marathons until I turn 80; after then I'll walk in them!!! We're still babies!!!

I am 47 and my gray comes in in the hairline only. I use Bigen but I just use an applicator brush to apply the color just to the hairline. I was doing it every four months, but now I am up to every three months. I am going to try the Surya Henna black cream though next. I was relaxed from the age of 14 to 43 and, although I expected to have longer hair by now in its natural state, I am satisfied with everything about my hair -- length, sheen, health, texture. I have tried alot of stuff and the best stuff I have tried have all been in the last four months -- yogurt, shikakai, aloe vera... Buying a shower and bath tub filter are also great discoveries that have done wonders for my hair and body. I have been taking supplements for years and am healthy as a horse and working out five days a week, 50 minutes a day, for 10 months now, so... I feel and look better than I did 10 years ago, I believe...Here is the link to the "40-something LHCF ladies where are you?" thread that you might find interesting.

I'm 56 but people mistake me for 30s:)

I also use Henna and love it and I take Chlorella, and now I'm about to start DE(diatomaceous food grade) because of all the health benefits.

I work out 5 days wk, am a vegetarian, and we are empty nesters:)

I love this forum and so love knowing there are ladies here who are mature and confident enough to say how old they are and loving it!

I'm not in my 50's, but I'm so inspired by all of you. You prove that healthy hair care can be pursued and maintained at any age. :-)

Thank you for sharing.
