So I'm thinking about making Youtube videos. I've been at this hair care thing for a while and I'm almost at my goal length. I reached APL sometime this year (time is blending together) and I'm inching my way to full APL. I don't think I'll be growing my hair much longer than that. I've overcome a lot and struggled through trial and error and numerous setbacks. And im so proud of my hair!

Anyways. While there are many naturals on Youtube, there aren't many pure 4b ladies representing. So what do you ladies want to see on Youtube from 4b heads?

Styling help? Like how to do buns, updos, etc
Technique instructions? Like how to cornrow, or put in extensions
General hair care? Like how to avoid tangles, or the best ways to wash
Or maybe something else I haven't thought of. <-- pick this for 'all of the above' too

What are you ladies looking for?

Oh, I also need to get a new camera. Mine gave out on me back in January. On suggestions on a good DSLR? I'm looking for one with good video capabilities!

i'm not 4b (but i watch YT vids from all natural hair types) & i definitely think you should incorporate everything you said because 4bs are definitely underrepresented on youtube...they're probably out there, but i dont come across them often, its usually 3c-4a , so i'm sure you'll be informational and inspirational to a lot of ppl...

I think "all of the above".

You could probably start with the "General Hair Care" topics you mentioned, and move on from there. From what I've seen on youtube, once you have an audience, the questions will come thick and fast and viewers will let you know what they want to see.

Each of the above sounds like a good place to start. Add "how to twist and how to maintain them". I know you've done a WNG (You brave soul :notworthy ) so *I* would like to know how long it took to get your hair back to normal. Normal being the way I keep my hair: stretched, strands separated. Not just how long it took but what steps you took. It might be helpful for those who love WNGs. I don't do them, but I am intrigued.

You are very sweet to do this and I look forward to subscribing.

I think all of the above are great starting points!

I def. think you should have videos incorporating detangling sessions. So many naturals (especially new/transitioning) get frustrated when it comes to detangling and just want to throw in the towel and give up.

You know, I was tempted to do a wash n' fro (as I like to call them) this weekend. I saw a guy with a really nice 3 inch fro. I might try it in a month. I wonder how long it will take to detangle it lol.

Yes, I've spent many a night crying and detangling:nono:

I swear, me and Nonie must be the only 4bers who don't have these dreaded detangling problems! LOL. Granted, I only have about 4.5-5" all around....I'm crossing my fingers things don't change as my hair grows longer.

Anyway, I'd love to see tips on retention and moisturizing- 2 issues most all 4bers especially can identify with.

Great idea!!! I'm also working on some YT vids (I'm not a complete 4b) and I think that you'd be effective if you cover all of the topics that you mentioned in your polls/post, especially your styling and detangling methods. :yep:

Since I started rollersetting and bunning, I don't have issues with excessive tangling anymore. I no long want to shave my head!

Please whatever you do, have a decent camera and good lighting. It sucks to see a guru with a great style, but you can see them for the life of you. It's actually my pet peeve.

Seriously, I'll subscribe if you have a decent camera and lighting. :look:

ETA: oops I didn't know you getting a new camera. Stupid me didn't read the thread. How about a Canon EOS Rebel?

LOL Then what do you think about poor sound quality and loud "background" music?

Ok, then Bride, Nonie and Afrokink it is....the "4b No-Detangling Issues Crew" LMAO. Any other members? Lol

Let me stop hijacking this thread...too much wine with my dinner. Carry on.

I would love to see some videos with ideas of how to style natural hair. Braiding with extensions too. I'm tired of spending money to have others braid my hair too tight. But time is also an issue. I can't take three days to do single braids.

Detangling isn't really an issue for me either. I'm hoping it stays that way

I don't have too many struggles with detangling.... and actually, I wear wash and goes a lot. Like, almost all the time. :look:

Afro, I would love to see more 4Bs represented on YouTube. :yep: So I vote "all of the above" too. :yep:

Congrats on reaching your goal. I agree that any and all of the above will be welcome. I'm sure you'll be an inspiration and reference point to many others. I'd be most interested in techniques and how you use different styling tools. I think right now I'm picking up tips from videos featuring every hair type but 4b so it would be nice to see it from the perspective of someone with hair like mine.

What about show cute afro styles that can be done every once in a while. I do not see many youtube naturals just decorate their afros as a style (at least w/o having to go through a long, dull process of "defining" curls)

all of the above (well Im not personally interested in how to do braids)
but I am very interested in detangling, washing, moisturizing etc basically techniques.

the styles I will show to my stylist and say " I want THAT"

I'll definitely support your channel! I would like to see style basics for us beginners like twists and cornrows and also more inticate designs like flat twists mixed with rollersets or frohawks. I really like my canon eos rebel. Its a good camera that you can grow with.

Im a product junkie so I wanna see product reviews primarily lol.
Also, I would luv to see vids about issues common to 4b hair:
Techniques for moisture retention, straightening, techniques, and also styling options. It seems that 4bs primarily stick to buns, puffs, or twist/braid outs.

THANK YOU!! I totally agree.. the net is abundant with ladies with 3b/c-4a hair... but it's less often that you find women with 4b hair showing "how-to's" for different styles. It would be greatly appreciated.
